It should have been an event which allows you to trade a BoE item for a BoA token that gives you a BoP item from a vendor. This way people who wanted to sue the companion would still get to use it, but you couldn't profit off it.

Yes, there were people bragging in chat about how they traded rust monsters for Arranea and Black Ice Ioune stones.
And today, you can see that there are no rust monsters on the market, and quite a few of the other two.
But, some people were trading for personal use. I happened to have a Phoera ( a gift ), and I traded it for a Mystic Phoera. My next character will be a Drow CW, ( Control Witch :P ), and I think the purple version of the Phoera fits a bit better.
There will *always* be people who take advantage / abuse things. And there will always be people who do not.

I actually wonder if they thought of this. The purpose of the Akro wants to Trade Event (as far as I can tell), is that if you open a ton of lockboxes hoping for two different purple mounts, but get two of the same purple mount, you can trade to offset the randomness involved. In this case, you might as well trade your BoE mount for a BoP mount.
If you want to sell your lockbox stuff for AD, you shouldn't be allowed to trade less valuable purples for more valuable purples. You need to just rely on luck (this is like the lottery, after all).
Actually what it did was make the less desirable ones more valuable and lower the value of the high end ones. I really like the event. Plus it took and will take some more Ad out of the system.

How is this taking AD out of the economy when its being spent in the AH? All AH is dong is taking what 10% of transaction and transferring the rest of the wealth from one person to another?

yes, the 10% cut of AH takes it out of the economy. Wealth is constantly being transferred in this game. And also if they are re-sold another 10% cut will be taken.

Between AD lost in AH transactions, and people deciding to pull their AD from the ZAX to purchase items from the AH, it should take some of the pressure off. Or at least, get the queue moving a bit.
Oh - and if you do happen to get into the instance with Akro, be nice enough to get out once you're done. Make room for other people and let them have their chance, too.

Not that its probably not fun and nice, but sucks for me since really the only thing i'd personally want to trade for is the mount Tenser's floating disc and I guess if its for equal trade the only thing out there is that emperor beetle and I still can't afford that lol. I just sold my Skull companion some days ago which I guess I could have traded that ... but for now its kinda just leaving me sucking wind while those with a ton of AD are buying items to exchange for even better ones.

this is all fine and all but to be honest the likelihood of you running into Akromatika is slim and then him trading what you want even slimmer
iv tried for weeks to get a Tenser's Floating Disk mount and have had no luck at all it was all i wanted as it will be perfect for my warlock
but iv given up trying now people are to greedy on the AH 20 mill AD i wish they would just sell the mounts in the store

Even when you do run into him, he's only got a finite number of things. He ran out of Floating Disks today. I think that's what everyone asked for. Once he ran out of things, had had to go. Tomorrow is probably artifacts, I would guess.

I don't think there was any in-crowd. Just people that noticed he was on. That said, there is probably a better way of letting people know. I bet he makes an announcement in the future. This is the first time we have had something like this.
