Is it just me, or has the number of Residuum drops fallen off drastically? I have received one drop of a single unit of Residuum in the last 4 levels of my character. Is this happening to everyone, or am I having an extremely long run of bad luck?
Thanks for the response. Glad someone else noticed the change, as for dirt cheap in the AH, maybe if the transaction was for gold, but using AD's, I don't agree. Maybe because I'm not really a daily doer, and keep using AD's for Zen to get lock box keys, but paying an average of 100 AD's for a single unit of Residuum seems a bit steep to me. Then again it's all supply and demand. If there were more drops people would not be so ready to spend 100 AD's for Residuum. Again thanks for the response, I appreciate the interaction.

What do you need the residuum for?
If you do crafting for income, then you have to take materials costs into account, and never make anything that you can't get more for the item than it either cost to obtain the materials or that you could have gotten for just selling the materials if it's stuff you picked up.
If you're using residuum to level weaponsmithing or artificing, STOP THAT. NEVER, EVER level those professions with anything but gathering tasks. It will take longer, but making all those cruddy items is just wasteful.
Armor crafts can be levelled with mass gather/refine tasks while you're offline and by making ordinary pants and vendoring them when you're active. Your costs are the coin for common profession materials. You may have some luck crafting things to sell, but again need to be careful that you're only doing stuff that's profitable.
If you're doing the high level alchemy potions that take residuum, I guess you just have to decide if it's worth it to you.
(Edit: Loot skill nodes during Professions. Run Phantasmal Fortess and/or some Sharandar Lairs so you have no competition for nodes. You'll get lots of refinement points and some decent crafting stuff.)
