How do I get my GS up?

I've been sitting at around 8.7-8.9k since I left Neverwinter back in May of last year. I've come back but can't figure out how to level up my toons. The highest I've head you can get is around 10.2k with full enchantments in blue gear. I have all purple gear right now (I think it's PvP gear?). Not full enchantments, but I've seen people with 17k+ Gs. How do I get my GS up higher? Thanks! :)

GS is correlated with how many stat points you have. This is why people say GS is a bad indicator of performance because it can be raised by adding unnecessary stats for a given situation. Things like boons and enchantments will help a lot with getting gear score up. Also things like 2 piece set bonus from weapons will help and armor set stat bonuses. Companions can also help for higher PvE GS.

So what should I try to go for to get this gear? Every piece of gear I've seen is worse than what I currently have, so not sure where I can upgrade. :(

Load up on artifacts. Get your first free one. And if you pvp get the blood skull. Then level them up. Even low level artifacts can significantly increase your gear score.

Do the campaigns. The Sharandar and Dread Ring campaigns will give you boons. The early boons like 250 Defense or 250 Power will go directly into your gear score.

Get artefacts and upgrade them. Three artefacts give more stats than only one and upgraded even more so.

Get rank 7 enchantments. These are much cheaper currently than refining and upgrading a rank 6. The price is around 35k-75k last time I have checked.

Get shirt and pants with sockets. The epic ones cost 100k-120k. Put enchantments into them, too.

Eventually you will be good enough to get frequently into T2 dungeons where you then can collect T2 PvE gear. Your score will continue to climb.
    Stay frosty.

Wear 2 pieces of an armor set and 2 others of another to get the bonus stats from both. The T1 sets will get you into the upper dungeons.

Get whatever companions you can that grant a flat stat bonus (white is ok, but green is better) and equip them in all your active slots.

Honestly though, many tips for increasing your gear score will only do that (like the above, and wearing 2/2 sets). You certainly want enough stats to make your character effective, but you don't want to sacrifice a good bonus from something else (like a 4 piece set) in favour of increasing your GS.

When you upgrade a White Companion to a Purple Companion it will give a really big bonus to your stats, usually +300 each. That's a total of +1500 to your G.S. right there. The downside is that it costs millions of A.D. to do. Three Rank 99 Artifacts will add something like 1000 stat points EACH, for a total of +3000. Add in your Rank 10 Enchants and the effects of assorted Buffs (Potions, Campfires, Pocket Pets, and Coins) and you can reach surprisingly high levels. The downside is that it takes terrifyingly large amounts of time and A.D. both to reach this point.

Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.' Terry Pratchet The Thief Of Time

Only Waters give 1000 GS at lv 99/100 others give only 600 because the last stat doesn't count toward your GS, however, in the next module there will be available new artifacts that will also grant 1000 GS.
