Last Chance: Rusted Iron Lockbox

Hey Adventurers, Starting next Thursday 2/13/14, the Rusted Iron Lockbox will no longer drop. So you have one week to pick up as many of these lockboxes as you can before they disappear.

    Just a quick question as I didn't see it, is there any new article up yet about the new boxes?

    Unearthed Lockbox. One of the drops from it is Thayan Book of the Dead (Stability artifact)

    On the PTR it mentions one of the new artifacts is coming from a lockbox...

    This is VERY interesting since a new event starts tomorrow and ends in 4 days and now these boxes are going as well...

    It all smells like something big coming down the pipeline soon....

    The Dark Forest lockbox came out between module releases with nothing major happening.

    So the Rusted lockbox is being removed and replaced by a new one , could it be the other apparatus mount? , you know the cooler looking one :0

    I hope so. I like the other one, the one we have now reminds me of my first car, a beer can that moves.

    I think the one being dumped by the masses in the Auction House right now are supposed to resemble a crab, whereas this one resembles a lobster. It will probably end up in the Z-Store, so meh.

    I'm actually hoping for the Hellhound to end up in the Z-Store, just so I can buy it account-wide and not have to gamble on it.

    But here's the thing... Cryptic rarely just changes the lockbox willy-nilly. It usually comes along with some other content change and the lockbox change basically heralds it in. So I wonder if something's up or if lockbox sales are just down and it's time foe a change? (I'm still fan of the Nightmare lockbox, I refuse to use my keys on Feywild and the current lockboxes. -sigh-)

    Rusted Iron was as good as or better than Nightmare (though I'm still slowly opening my Nightmare boxes). People have been opening tons of them. Tons! That's why the mount and companion were so cheap... relatively... I doubt lockbox companions will ever bottom out to the degree phoeras did due to SCA and companion buffs.

    Prices are already starting to rise on the unique Rusted Iron drops.

    New lockbox is called "Unearthed" on the Preview server. Beyond the Thayan Book of the Dead artifact, no idea what is in it.
    The right to command is earned through duty, the privilege of rank is service.

    Well I did see sominator with a "loamweave Enchant" on the PTR the other day. Its an armor enchant thats effect was it applied a root to the attacker like the HR roots once every 60 seconds.

    People spam bought lockboxes because of new enchants. The latest lockbox doesnt offer enchants so hence ppl dont buy it.

    With this new artifact, Sales will be through the roof along with possible new enchants?

    Like someone mentioned above though, typically the lockbox heralds in new changes... Maybe the PTR pvp gear is that new change?

    The loamweave enchant is from the Knight of the Feywild purchase. It is also not upgradable.

    Well, hopefully the new lockbox will contain some cool enchants...

    Are you forgetting the Dark Forest Lockbox? It came out between mod 1 and 2 with no other changes (besides a normal weekly patch).

    My personal ranking of lockbox desirability in order of best to least is Nightmare, Dark Forest, Rusted Iron, then Feywild.

    The big problem with Feywild (for me) was the utter JUNK you got if you didn't win the Mount of Companion. The Rusted Iron just does;t interest me in terms of the Mount or Companion. The Nightmare provided almost always excellent stuff - even the "least valuable" loot was good stuff. The "value" gap between best and lest really opened up in the Feywild box (one three or four occasions all I got was some stupid shard, that is ALL. Requires level 60 (I wash't at the time), cannot sell, cannot discard - I was livid.

    As for the Rusted Iron, I see so many Kawalish win notices in game it's beaten my interest into the ground. maybe the Unearthed box will unearth my interest! LOL

    Don't bother. The lockbox isn't actually there. Just an incomplete version of the artifact listed in the collection system.

    I must politely disagree. The Nightmare Lockbox doesn't seem to have really nice stuff at all, but that's probably to the fact that enchant's and rune's have gone in deep inflation. So I don't know. But the Mount still holds its value, that I can say. The rusted iron I liked, but After opening5 lockboxes and getting 3 of those virtually worthless thayan relic fragment's, i gave up. I started working on a much better (in the sense of value) of a gamble. Iron strongbox of Enchantment's going for about 60k atm, but the worst worst thing you can get is 1 mark of potency, and 1 rank 5. Never ever got that as many times I have. Worst luck I ever had was Getting 2 mark's and 2 rank 6 azure's, but the one before I got a radiant rank 7, and a mark of potency which paid for all 3 boxes, but in general you can get amazing things like the Brilliant Diamond! That's why I prefer Iron strongbox of enchantment's cause the upside is much greater than the downside.

    The reason you see so many notifications regarding the epic items in these boxes is because much of the other stuff in them is valuable, mostly related to the refinement system. Expensive consumables required by everyone with an eye towards gear progression? Cha-ching.

    Also, (it feels silly to even mention this but...) "cannot sell" didn't mean you couldn't put those Illefarn fragments on the auction house, only that regular vendors wouldn't buy it for gold. Not that they were worth much as the time. They've gone up in value, still not worth a key, but 10x as much as the Thayan relics right now.

    I'm hoping that the Thayan book of the dead drops as often as the Apparatus , I really want that Artifact to be fairly cheap plus a purple artifact = how many RP ? if they turn out to be quite common like the apparatus then it'll be simple to get legendary Artifacts xD

    Edit to add: I think the reason I personally feel the Nightmare is what I like best is this simple fact: no chance of a wasted key on a stupid fragment that I do not want, can't sell or discard. Hence: I get a few Astral Diamonds for the effort, in an amount nowhere near the Zen price of the key wasted on opening it.

    I'd rather get a rank 7 Enchant along with other trinkets than another stupid fragment (because when you get a fragment, that's ALL you get. NOTHING else. =#epicfail) :)

    On another note, where's the enchanted key sale? They usually have one before they switch out boxes. I'm looking to buy some more and waste my hard earned free zen on the next upcoming lockbox, even if it sucks.

    Maybe it'll be one of this weeks sale items to coincide with the new Boxes? specially if they contain some highly desirable goodies .

    For the mount, I would like to see a scorpion mount or another type of mechanical mount.
    For the compagnion, another type of cool animal pet or a goblin.
    For "other" type reward : some cool looking fashion and non-fashion item.

    And a new type of dye pack in the bloody taint, to go with a pvp module.

    For a "FREE to PLAY" game, These are totally wasted, since they can only be opened if we spend REAL CURRENCY to get the keys to open them! Personally, (SINCE I have NO extra income to buy keys with) I would rather see EITHER some keys also dropping or some other kind of drop that people like myself can actually enjoy! I think it sux that I cant take advantage of the really neat stuff that I see falling and I cant get!!!
