General CTA: Storm The Keep Feedback

Besides the minor issues with lag at the start, so far this has been an enjoyable experience, much better than the winter event. I have really enjoyed playing this particular CTA, though I kind of miss the mimic that was removed from the normal skirmish and don't understand why the boss was shrunk down.

Pricing with the new currency is much better compared to the winter and halloween events and doesn't make it feel like a grind like the other events. The addition of a fashion item that isn't a hat is nice, though could have used a top to go with it. I also really like that the currency will be reusable at future CTAs (or at least says it will).

The one main issue I have with the CTA is the stuck in "return to instance" bug that has plagued this game for a while. Due to the very short time it takes to get a queue pop, and has the nasty effect of a teammate ending up outside the instance while the rest go for another run with a new random teammate. I really hope that this bugged is addressed before the next CTA because it makes running with a group frustrating.

I've had some success with skirmish running groups designating one person to stay in the instance until everyone else is out, then drop from the party. The party leader then reinvites and re-queues.

The Sword Coast Adventures Call to Arms is a nice addition as an alternate source of Medallions of Battle.

Oh! I completely forgot about special event SCA.

Edit: Nice. 22 Medallions in one game, and today is also bonus companion xp.

Not much to add.. only to say that of all the CTA's, I've had the most fun running this one. So fast and chaotic. =D

Had some problem with CTA store, tried to buy the pegleg costume pants, but instead the store decided to give me the Longsword transmute... not much use for my wizard. Before you ask, yes i made sure i selected to proper item, and it even asked if i was sure i wanted to buy Pegleg.

I agree with just about everything above , it's much nicer having a CTA where you actually have to move around a map instead of just standing in an arena area like the pitfight -.- ( if I never see that cursed map again it'll be too soon ), if I had to make one suggestion it would be to go along with the idea another forum user had to have items from previous CTA events in the CTA store , even if the cost more than the items for the current CTA , other than that yeah really like it , oh and the CTA store is a very nice addition.

Thanks for the tip! 42 medallions in one run. Very nice.

The optional chest on a platform is removed in this CTA version. But imo it would be nice to have some optional chests as a bonus or surprise.

    "+":
    1. Introduction of the store (no more RNG for skins! YAY!)
    2. Introduction of the Medallion of Battle, which can be used in future CTAs too (hopefully).
    3. Peg Leg!!
    4. Refiner's Cache
    5. New dye
    6. Quick response to lag issue

    "-"
    1. Unattractive weapon skins (although they look a little steam punk to me, and I like steam punk stuff, but all the skins are just not nice enough imho)
    2. Initial lag
    3. Players' etiquette (seriously, people should learn how to play the various classes in a team so that they will not frustrate other players with the skills they choose to use, i.e. CW with push and ice storm when melee players are fighting mobs; DC with divinity sunburst; GWFs thinking they are 'god' and draw too much mob and die multiple times etc)

Overall, I like this CTA, have >800 medallions on 3 of my toons, but I do not know what to get since I am not keen on all the skins and the peg leg does not fit any of my toons' style... might just save all the medallions till the next CTA...

Just double click on them and it will bring up the refining window.

It seems like the fastest way to get the event tokens is SCA, I've been averaging about 37 in the 8-15 min it takes to do a round on my ipad (not nearly as fast on a PC). Kristin on the one hand got 50 (!!!) with one run.
What has everyone else noticed? Am I just crazy?

Enjoyable but the devs have been cheapskate with Brutal enchantment drops. Mostly rank 3s in chests, and only ranks 1-2 from mobs. It used to be a lot better during the orc assault, ranks 3-4 could at least drop.

I love the CTA so far. This is one of the skirms I like the most, and the weapon skins are fabulous. They all have a really classy realistic-fantasy look (as opposed to more magic-fantasy like the winter festival ice weapons) that I really like. My CW has a couple of transmutes that she likes already, but I think I like this CTA's orb best. Working on getting one for her.

The only things I'd change are cosmetic-type things:

    1. Please bring back weapon dyeing. I'd love to throw an Ethereal Skies dyepack at my CW's orb when she gets one; it would look great with that color palette. All the other classes' weapons would look good with alternate color palettes as well. The more customization, the better.

    2. I keep trying to refine my new brutal enchants with my old cruel enchants because they look exactly the same. I'm being careful about it, but I really don't want to expend my cruel enchants by mistake since I can't get more of them, and surely I'm not the only player who still has some of these critters lying around. Can the color of the brutal enchants be changed to pink/red or blue or something to avoid confusion with the cruel and savage enchants?

I think the CTA store is fantastic, and I know I'm not alone as a working stiff who appreciates special event SCA to play during work breaks.

Something that I miss as someone who can't endlessly grind these kind of events for their entire duration is getting a dyepack from every run. I know you can buy them with the medallions, but it looks like it's an average of two runs to earn enough for one dye, and that cuts into being able to afford anything else.

I know there have been people who groused about being overloaded with dye because they were grinding out hundreds or thousands of runs. But I'm coming at it from the other side as someone who was perfectly happy to buy their unwanted loot as long as they're able to post their goodies at reasonable prices. I've been happy enough to buy a few of their excess companions this time around. It's a mutually beneficial relationship, between me and the event grinders.

What I'd suggest is allowing the dye to stack higher than 20 (seriously, the inconsistent max dye stack sizes are obnoxious) so it doesn't create horrible inventory management issues, and either put dyepacks back as a more frequent drop or reduce the medallion cost for them so they're a reasonable thing to buy in addition to the bigger ticket items in the store, as opposed to something you have to chose between.

Medallion cost of the transmutes and pants seemed fair.

The first day lag-fest was scary, but once that got fixed, CTA is silly amounts of fun. I hope they extend this concept to other skirmishes, or even do skirmish versions of some of the dungeons :)

This is the 4th Call To Arms event. AFAIK the plan is to do all skirmishes.

After several days of doing this, my favorite part of the skirmish has come to be kicking the barrels across the bridge to the boss.

There's an artifact? Is this in the chest you can buy?

No, the way I read that is that the player has been able to level their usual free quest artifact (Waters/Lantern/Catalogue) to 21 just from the drops from the CTA. Which isn't at all far-fetched, as those first levels come quite fast, especially popping in some rank 5s.

No, he meant that he did the artifact quest and using the brutal enchant drops from the skirmish, that artifact is rank 21.

However, artifacts are supposed to have a chance to be loot in the Skirmish end chest, so I suppose you could get one.

Ahhhh ok, almost had a heart attack as I've been ignoring the CTA after over-running it the first two days. I really want a third artifact...

Not that my polling is extensive, but people who've reported getting artifacts from skirmish chests have done so in the level 60 skirmishes.

Because the CTA has its own loot table, I actually wouldn't expect artifact drops to be possible there. Plus we'd probably have heard about someone getting one by now.

Someone on Reddit reported getting one in the Blacklake skirmish. Also heard about one dropping from a boss in one of the Helm's Hold lairs.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if the CTA didn't include them in the loot table.

So far, it's a pretty enjoyable skirmish. My only annoyance has been that some people run right past all the initial groups of enemies, don't give the rest of the team a heads up, then start fighting the red wizards on their own, and eventually head for Malus.
