I just wasted 700k AD on an item that I was trying to place a bid for 44k on. Should there not be a buyout confirmation window? We have to confirm selling stupid unid'd items to a vendor, but when it comes to a 700k buyout, no problem.
Not a bad idea - I'd rather have to make an extra click for a buyout than risk making a costly mistake. And I don't believe anyone is immune to making mistakes.
If there was a confirmation just for buyouts it would also be immediately obvious to anyone that accidentally click 'buyout' rather than 'bid' that they have made a mistake. Even better would be an option in the gameplay menu where you can set a confirmation box for buyouts.
I never bid on stuff, I only do buyouts. Unless I'm misremembering, there IS a confirmation window whenever you do a buyout (at least there WAS). But, come to think of it, I'm not sure I've been seeing it lately. It could be a bug that has been introduced and no one has noticed or reported it.
Either way, if you click the wrong button, it is your own impatience that is the cause. Personally, I always check and double-check when money is involved, even virtual cash. I don't like to make mistakes that can cost me money. You need to slow-down and take greater care in your clicking about.
That same is true for those who complain that they have accidentally deleted mail with attachments, etc.
This happened to me as well. Placed a bid on a vorpal shard for 40K, somehow ended up buying it for 550K. It was extremely laggy during that time though, and I can't 100% recall what exactly happened. The ah acts weird at times during heavy lag. Sent in a ticket, got a response that there's nothing they can do. I feel your pain.
I'e learned not to double click now. Sometimes it bids, sometimes it buys out the item. No, it has nothing to do with the item having a b/o or bid price listed. I've tested this and double clicking sometimes bid on the item, and sometimes it buys out. Idk what's going on, but I no longer double click.

If you click "buy out", there is a confirmation dialogue: buy [thing] at [price]? yes/no
No idea what happens if you double-click. I *never* do that to buy anything from any interface because so many people have reported it being glitchy.

Not to mention you can always buyback if you accidentally vendor the wrong item
