Jack of All Trades OR Players Who Have Epic Characters Of Each Class

As of yesterday evening, I now have at least one epic character of each class on the live server (see the first seven characters on the list in my signature). I must say that I have a greater appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of each class, and I am a much better player overall for having played all of them to the level cap.

For example, I've learned that the difference between a skilled TR and a lesser one is that the former dies less often. Many players complain about how TRs top the PvP scoreboards, particularly in the number of kills that they get, but I've come to realize that getting kills is the easy part of being a TR; the hard part is actually surviving long enough to get those kills.

Another thing I've learned is that CWs are excellent for taking territory but are horrible at holding them. This is because when you're attacking a point, you can stay back and let your superior range whittle down your enemies' HP. However, when you're holding a point, you have to stay within a short radius of the control point or your enemies will take it.

I wouldn't have learned these lessons had I not played each class to the limit. So, anyone else have epic toons of all five classes?

Indeed ... and I am sure that I am not alone in saying that I am very much looking forward to adding a ranger to my (halfling) army in a few days.

Have them all for some time now, unfortunatly the game isnt exactly alt friendly as many classes require good gear to perform (minus GF and TR). Always with my fingers crossed when i go CW/DC in pvp with pugs :P

Shame, like so many other things, there are no titles nor achievements for such things or even titles for achievements that can only be obtained by a lot of effort, e.g. Sage lore achievement.

Instead, you get titles and achievements for silly, highly counterproductive things like who dies the most times across the most PvP matches...

But, yes, even just levelling a class makes a huge difference in understanding of a class, let alone gearing to full Epics. For me the most revealing were the Fighters, especially GWF.

Yup. Although I somewhat disagree with the TR comment...provided you avoid conflict when outmatched. Being able to at least play each class competently vastly increases a player's ability to understand the limits of his or her team mates, resulting in less QQing.

I've recently joined this list! finally finished my TR that I started as my 3rd character... I couldn't get over the play-style, but hearing about the new paragon, mixed with the double exp weekend pushed his fate. I like each other class though, its great being able to fill a role no matter whats needed in the guild. And I'd like to put in that I'm extremely satisfied with the way they built the cleric, making him/her have to be part of the battle and deal (albeit small) damage in order to function properly. It makes the class seem more involved then just the healing, like some MMO's. They probably should have merged the GF and the GWF from the beginning though, and just have the first sub class difference. Oddly enough, I built my GF for damage, and my GWF for tanky... And the Control wizards, I had a mentor for this class, wanted to be exactly like him. I had no idea CW's could do so much damage on the battle field while still controlling. *dat entangle on tab*

So hopefully after the update maybe the TR will fall in with the rest. and I'll like him just as much... not that i'd be able to play him though... everyone and their auntie has a TR in this game.

Yes, I do too. It's nice to get a good understanding of all classes, however it makes me wonder if the time I put into them all would've made a single character better. On the plus side, with gwf having a lesser role I've managed to swap my focus on a cw or dc down to what the guild needs.

Partially true, only for pugs basically.

If in a serious match as a CW, you won't be able to be very effective at taking territory either, because the enemy team will focus you the second you're on the battlefield, and after that you will spend your DPS time prone and impact shotted, until you're dead. From time to time when the others are careless, you will get some satisfaction sniping some poor squishies like yourself, if the enemy team was fool enough to bring them, and after that it's prone and impact shot time again :)

Basically if you are able to stay at range and throw encounters almost unscathed, then you know you fight amateurs.

By epic you mean level 60? Thats not really hard. I realize your talking mostly pvp here but theres also a ton of pve expertise that comes with the intimate knowledge of how each class works.

I have a 60 of every class and all of them but my gwf has bis gear (still missing fabled oh from fulmi, 0 for 37 from that sob). Had i focused all the time and ad into a single character im sure id have all rank 10 enchants and every rare companion but really its all fluff after rank 7s and perfect/greater weapon enchant. I'm currently sitting at 1 perfect vorpal, 1 greater vorpal, and 2 greater plague fires, and my dc just has a holy avenger.

Its funny in the time i've been farming 3/3 malabog for my gwf oh i've both seen and won the roll on every single fragment drop. With the class breaking nerf gwfs are about to receive in module 2 Im almost tempted to say why bother and just sell them all. That is 1 benefit to having geared chars of every class i suppose, when they obsolete 1 you can just switch focus. Just wish that the devs would wake up and stop pampering their pet class the cw. My tr and gf are already shelved and the gwf will follow.

I'm not quite there with the CW (level 54 now?), but almost. Whether it's PvE or PvP, I agree that intimate acquaintance with the skills of each class will make you a stronger player, on a team or against an opponent.

This is about to change with HR's as of the 5th. :)
When well and actively played, they can out range CW's and effectively negate their range advantage.

I know some people have 3 or 4...or even more of one class, and I say more power to ya. I personally just can't do that and I have one of each class. However, as some said previously, unless you have lots of time or money it is actually a little difficult to properly gear them all. At this point all my chars have about 10.5k GS and I am mostly happy with that, but really want to get better enchants.

I only have a CW, GWF, and TR so far. Not sure if I'll make a cleric or ranger next.

i have 8 character's at level 60. People call me crazy but i just like trying new builds for pvp and see what works. 3 GF's, 2 GWF, 1 DC, 1 CW, 1 TR all have all epic's my lowest gs one is at 11.1 which i am gearing for sent gwf pvp. i have 5 character's 12.7k and above. I can not tell you how invaluable knowing each class and their cool downs and uses of skills are in pvp. The only worry i have for you guys is boredom. I haven't really played to much since i completely geared one of each class. I am waiting for people to level their HR before i do one. i want to see some builds and if it adds anything to the arsenal.

I myself have 10 characters at lvl 60 and two I'm currently leveling. It seems a little excessive, but I enjoy the leveling process since it makes me feel like I'm actually making progress. Also, having this many characters has helped me learn so much more about the game than I would've with one or two characters. I am very knowledgeable in the workings of most of the game mechanics, minus a few DC things, as that's the class I play least.

A consequence of this alt-madness is that only two of my characters have any substantial endgame gear... but I don't care. I can run endgame just fine with regular gear.

I can't wait for the Ranger to come out. Time to buy a few more character slots.

I've got six characters, 2xCW 1 of everything else. I've got two more slots right now. One will probably be for the ranger. The other I don't know. The only races I don't have are halfling, half-elf and drow. My HR will likely be a drow. At some point I'd like to do the other races for the quests if nothing else. Unfortunately, I can't seem to concentrate on just one character, which is why most of them are in the 10-12k GS range and none of them are higher than that. As far as running endgame solo stuff, buying level 60 blues from the AH works pretty well. You won't get a high GS even with rank 5 enchants, but it's a lot easier to tailor your stats that way.

I just managed to get my 3rd 60 over the double XP weekend. GWF, TR, and CW all at about 11.5k GS. Ive only been playing for maybe... 2 or 3 months now. There's a mate in my guild that has 4 GFs, and another guy who has 3 DCs. Dont ask me why.

I have 13 characters - 7 of which are level 60 with a couple slots set aside for the HR out soon.

I have 7 in full T2 / CN gear rank 7 and higher enchants - almost every pet in the game several of which I've paid the ZEN to rank up. Almost everything out of the boxes (mounts / pets etc.)

The doubled up classes that I play are GWF - I play one Destroyer and one Sent, DC I play one Healer and one DPS Hybrid. I'm finishing up the final boons on the last 2 or 3 this week I started some later then others to offset the tedium
