What are the best companions

Hello guys.

just want to ask. For you, what is the best companion to have. Are the "rare" ones really good? Need your opinion since the normal companion can be increased up to level 15 only.

Thanks in advance!

    Augments for endgame.

While levelling, you probably want either a healer or a tank, depending on you.

Best is subjective. Stones and the cat, whatever runes and gear you equip on them are as if you equipped them on your character. So say you put on a +150 armor pen, crit, power, and enchanted ring, your character gains 150 to those stats etc. This is more powerful than a mob level 25 dog or something that does like 100 damage per hit.

Aside from the ones that buff you, the healer (cleric) is free and very useful. Even at 60 she tops you off between battles, saving potions and distracting mobs for a couple of seconds in combat. Some of the others fill a good niche ... the tank pets can tank a little bit, buying you time and controlling pulls, and the wolf (and others???) have a potent interrupt/stun move that can be very handy. But generally the stats are the best, followed by a healer, followed by anything else (probably tank next, and damage last).

I like that Panther(founder only) for trip
Wererat thief for his knockback (nice complement to my GF)
Phoera for firemaps (as it's a great distraction and takes min damage from fire... or at least appears too)
Cleric (once they release the upgrade tomes... should be good all around)

Remember you can add the enchantment that give you a percentage of your pet's stats to you to any pet... so cat and ioun are good for this out of the boss... but your well equipped favorite with serve you just as well.

Cleric is proving to be best for healing. Hoping tomes will come out soon.

As a cleric, I used a tank pet while leveling - then switched to stone once I hit 60. Worked great for me. If I had been any other class, I would have picked the cleric while levelling.

Also, for some classes, cat might be more useful tthan the stone.
    Hoping for improvements...

Just reached lvl 60 a few days ago, I'm a GWF and these have been my companions so far:

    - White Cleric healer for solo and foundries (indispensable if you don't want to burn potions to death).
    - Blue skeletal dog for trash mobs in dungeons and skirmishes.
    - Blue Ioun Stone for bosses in dungeons and skirmishes.

I'm gonna semi-hijack this thread for my own question since it's related. Is the acolyte of kelemvor a decent healer pet? I just built a GWF tank and obviously the white cleric is not cutting it after I hit about lvl 40 or so. The flat damage resistance would be nice and if I pump up life steal gear I theorize it may do a decent job of healing. I already have an ioun stone for my main (wiz) and a t2 mount so I'm not sure what else I'm spending my diamonds on, anyone have experience with this companion?

From what I have read she gives life-steal not healing so is not regarded so highly.

Thanks for the reply! Very useful. For the Ioun stone, how do you get this one beside the auction house?

You can buy one on the wondrous bazaar for 990k AD, or earn one with the foundry grandmaster title..

    You're all wrong.
Current Best companion: Icosahedron Ioun Stone. (Purple stone)
Delve loot murdered my TR, DC, & GWF. Nerf Plox:
I know that it sucks to no longer get gear to sell from the Dungeon Delve chest but it was truly overpowered.

I have and in my opinion she is inferior to the devoted cleric so far like healing go. In fact it seems that , for some reason, the cheaper companions are better than their costly counterparts, the dire wolf for example has a better dps than the panther

Cats and stones are popular because they don't aggro extra groups. That doesn't mean it's the best pets. A melee one can survive most red stuff as long as the healer drops astral sheild on cooldown.

I have a ioun stone for my healer but i like the tank and the wererat thief when the mage doesn't do crowd control. This is an excellent pet most people underestimate. These pets do something useful and are fun to use.
