I bring this up from a discussion on advice in Professions yesterday in Alliance chat.
Somebody couldn't find out how to progress in Alchemy because they said the next recipe never came up for acquiring Research. They had to uncheck the box for "Hide Tasks With Unmet Requirements" to find it.
Whilst this IS a very useful feature it does make the annoyance for the Professions that require certain items you're often turning it on and off several times to find the needed components.
Alchemy and Black Ice are the two that come to mind first, and then are the event Professions (limited time).
The suggestion is to enable these "next progression" recipes to always show even with the "Hide Tasks" box checked. The Progression recipe should remain blacked out until all components are required. Then it would become active once the components are in inventory. That way, for example, if you're only 1 Unified Elements short of upgrading the Black Ice forge you can SEE instantly that's what you need. (I did think what might be needed in coding first before making this suggestion.)

I'm sure coding it would require adding a new flag to all tasks, and changing the coding of the filters. And they would need to make sure that these new tasks don't show when there are no open slots available, but that goes without saying.

You can still see tasks "with unmet requirements" even when all slots are filled now. No reason they shouldn't show the same way still even with this modification.
It's a juggling act of code, but possible, I think.
(Moment of derp - why you listing "ping" before a name? It's not testing internet speed.)
