Queue Ban without warning or telling me

zibadawazibadawa Member Posts: 1,266 Arc User
I went into an Epic Demogorgon, saw zero tanks and zero healers (my own team was 4 strikers and 1 controller), and exited from the entrance door several minutes before the first stage started. I then left the party. I received no warning about how leaving the group would give me a 30 minute queue ban. It simply let me leave without warning or complaint. Then I opened up to queue for some stuff, and it did not have the red text proclaiming a ban and the current duration. But I am unable to queue anything, receiving the error message that "Player has a penalty for leaving a queued group."

Personally I would rather like it if you could abandon party-sensitive instances near the start without being punished for it. At the very least I would like the game to properly and consistently inform me of the penalties it's going to impose on me. I would have taken the ban anyway in this case, but less blindsiding would be much appreciated.

Best guess is it's because they copied the 10-player queue from PvP and failed to remove the quitter penalty for dropping.

I don't disagree that there should be a warning. I do however think a stricter penalty should be involved when you leave an instance that doesn't get refilled (like Demo and EDemo). Basically, because you didn't A) bother to create the group yourself with the roles you wanted and B) think you could do it with the pug you entered, you basically screwed over 9 other people.

Perhaps the answer here is to make Demo queues use the unreliable but sometimes beneficial queue logic others use, and give tanks and healers a spot.

You clearly don't quite understand how Demo works. Before stage 1 begins new players can join the instance normally, no problems. It's only once stage 1 starts that it locks out new help. So, no, I did exactly jack HAMSTER to screw anyone over. There was more than enough time to get a new 10th. But if they were vaguely intelligent and saw the crew had no tanking and no healing they also would have called it a guaranteed fail from the start and moved on.
