Hello there, honestly, I don't understand the fuzz about dyeing weapons? What's the actual problem with it? Why did you change the mechanic of the "Change Appereance" window again?
There is no known exploit with dyed weapons.
I... do not understand? Why do you not want us to change the color of our weapons?
Please - at least an explanation would be nice. Thank you.

An explanation as to why it is soooooo stinking important that we not be able to change the colour of our weapons would truly be lovely.
In my mind, it is inexplicable.
@Strumslinger ... This is one of those things that you probably don't know the history of.
At launch, you could dye your weapon. This seemed reasonable. My TR's daggers looked really freaking amazing in Many-Arrows.
The change appearance interface was "fixed" so that if you pulled up a weapon and tried to apply dye to it, it would give you an error. But, if you got the dye into the window and then brought in your weapon, you could change it.
So that got "fixed" too.
Then the "genaddwindow" command was available. Sorry, I'm sketchy on exactly how this worked, and I know that some of the commands accessible were exploitable, but the much more dynamic appearance change tool that could be called up... well, I don't think anyone is clear on how cosmetics = exploits, since there's no advantage in them. Anyways, command-savvy folks could use this tool to dye their weapons.
So access to that got patched out.
And overlaying all of this, the change was also implemented to make gear drop pre-dyed (Questing, Adventuring, and Dungeon dyepacks). The patch note indicated that "some" equipment would drop pre-dyed with special unique colours, but in practice, "some" was every single item that didn't require identification: all quest rewards, and all dungeon drops. In the case of quest rewards, even items with no visuals (rings, grimoires, icons, etc.) indicate that they've been dyed. If you don't actually like these colours, you can change them on your armor, but NOT on your weapon, because that is expressly not allowed. Enjoy your teal warhammers and pepto-pink pact blades, chumps.
It makes no sense. It breaks nothing, because the only reason dyeing weapons doesn't work is because it's been repeatedly removed every time someone finds a way to do it. It limits customization. And it's just staggeringly stupid that the game has been allowed to dye weapons into ridiculous immersion-breaking colours but the players aren't allowed to customize theirs, and the straightest answer we've ever gotten as to why is, "because it was never intended that you could" (that one courtesy of Ambi, iirc).
