Banners required for SH weapons....????

prettyceltprettycelt Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 777 Arc User
Really, Cryptic? The Stronghold weapon set can ONLY be purchased with Banners of the Fallen? 25 per piece? You DO realize the Siege PvP is pretty much an unmitigated disaster that no one actually does, right? Except for perhaps a tiny minority of rabid PvP guilds who may fight each other?

What were you thinking?

Right now I'm hoping they are looking at Mr. Shicoff's customer retention and engagement efforts since he first came on board promising "Hope" and "Change" and "looking into it" only to provide empty promises, half baked economic changes and more EverGrind moments than you can shake a dwarf at, and they are thinking about dropping him at the nearest truck stop, removing everything he ever touched in the game and reclaiming the D&D Legacy.

Instead I'm sure they are having another glass of kool-aid while coming up with more empty promises, half baked economic changes and more EverGrind moments than you can shake a whole dwarven village at.

They take both currencies. 25 fangs and 25 banners.

I get the idea...participate in ALL the content to earn the weapons. But I don't PvP, so I'm not crazy about the banner thing. Particularly since you're not even guaranteed to get even one when you do manage to get into a working SH PvP match.

If I knew suffering through it was at least going to earn me one banner, and then a cash shop box for more, I might stomach queuing up...even if it means getting stomped by invincible OP/DC combos for 10 minutes.

This is not something I'm happy to hear about. I don't PvP, I don't want to PvP, and I will be terrible at it if forced to PvP. Yuck.

I think strongholds as a concept was good, in fact I have enjoyed some of it.. but like everything since mod 4.. they implement it wrong..

Leadership removal has done one thing.. forcing you to grind AD above all else.. I dont have time to waste in pvp siege.. its way to long.

If they would fix the lagginess and reduce maps by 50% , it would help a ton.

Overall the player-base at this time, cannot support strongholds.. they need to reduce requirements by a ton. I dont think they took that in account when they made strongholds or other group content requirements.

We have lost thousands upon thousands.. you cant build your game around a playerbase that no longer is present.

No one is doing siege due to the problems presented.

It will be a bit before the changes appear on preview, but we've altered the price of stronghold artifact weapons. You can now purchase them for 25 fangs or 25 banners. Alternatively you can also purchase them for 10 fangs and banners. The guild mark and armament requirements are unchanged.

We'd like to encourage more players to check out Stronghold Siege and the Greed of the Dragonflight, so the price is a little cheaper if you participate in both, but you can earn the weapons by just focusing on PvP or PvE. We appreciate your continued feedback.

Here is some feedback: If you don't want SH PvP to die out (it already did), you need to add more loot that we can gain by running it. Our whole guild already have all the gear and we see no reason at all to keep running it for now and I know many other guilds feel the same way. So new players or the players that didn't have time to get those new items yet, are stuck because its really hard to get SH PvP going with the low player count running it.

So add loot that makes it worth the Q waiting times and then the match itself (20-30 min) and maybe more players will run it every day. For example we need ToD/Fey currency and we need AD for the SH and influence. Add like 300-400 influence that can be gained ONE time a day from SH PvP and you will see a big increase of players in there.

Personally, I've love to see a PvE-themed Stronghold Siege event...

This would be awesome and use existing maps. Winner winner. Would be perfect for a skirmish with NPCs manning the other castle and a few bosses spread around randomly (IE replayable, not repeatable). The NPCs would take on the names of random guild members for the castle you are attacking lol. The options are endless.

Also going to be impossible for me to ever get them, unless I leave my guild and join another. As there is only ever one person online in my guild at any one time, so not possible to trigger the dragon event.

Same here, we got one dragon down to 25% but as you only get one fang if you slay two of them, there is no point to even try it any further. Same for Strongholds, I have enough banners to buy at least one piece of armor, but I wouldn´t be able to buy one in the near future (we have just begun to build rank 2 structures to be able to upgrade our guid hall - Oh and we don´t even need any of the production structures at a rank higher than 1...)

    RIP Foundry

My only wish was that they worked some on the core mechanics behind their PVP implementation prior to launching something so huge and deeply ingrained within the core game that required near total buy-in from the player community to get it's momentum going. Leaving the current bustedass matchmaking system and gear system as-is was a mistake. A dedicated Cryptic team should have been assigned to work with top pvp players and casuals alike to get a feel for where the system needed help the most to get us to play. Besides the feedback given in the Alpha tests, the community has provided endless feedback on core mechanics that HAVE to change before acceptance will return. Most of it has gone totally ignored. Spurned even, with what they did with pet powers, complicating an already easily exploited system of power and enchantments.

I don't know if Cryptic is prepared to knuckle down and get into what is really wrong with their system but it starts with understanding it, which I don't think they do. Maybe have them emulate the average PUG pvp team with at least one bot on it for added realism and have them face off against a typical BiS team. Several times in a row. And see if they agree there may be areas that need attention. It's the least they can do if they want us to buy into this moba/pvp hybrid thing they have created.

I am in a very small guild, that sort of "ported over" from a different pwe game. I personally spent the better part of 2 years grinding through that space-themed "stronghold" (coincidentally also run by Mr. Shicoff), and we managed to get to the highest level. I got so burnt out in that game I had to leave. When I heard about the plans for the strongholds, well, let's just say I'm not surprised with the complaints. There will be very little reduction in any requirements for the stronghold projects, if this follows a similar path.

I think it's nice that the developers did "something big" for the PvP'ers, but maybe should have been implemented differently. That's pretty much water under the bridge, though, not worth it to me to grind endlessly nor hope for many big changes. I truly appreciate the requirement changes coming in Underdark that asterdahl mentioned, but for me, I will just wait until Underdark and hopefully be able to attain the newer, "on par" artifact weapons available from PvE play.
