other classes with range attack skills kill those before trolls jump into battle from hills, and i played my tank, barely get any kills if lucky, end up as 31st rank for only 10 kills made in 15 mins, others made over 100 kills.
Go to a less populated instance, and don't fight 'with the crowd'. If you see people waiting for/killing trolls, move to another spot. Further in the back tends to be a better spot to fight in. I'm a melee class (TR) and I've done just fine in these events. Yeah, it's annoying if you get a really powerful CW or something running around killing everything, but you can't win every time.
will try finding low pops, i had few kills until others came from nowhere.

In addition to going to a low-pop instance, use charge-like abilities to quickly get to a mob. If your area becomes crowded, go to another one of the spawn areas.
oh, yeah, believe me, i used "lunge", but GF are too slow, worst class for speed.
problem is, they get killed before they jump off the hills, i cant even use "lunge" to get up there.

Do you have a mount? If so what I do on my GFs is stay mounted until I am dismounted from attacking a troll. Use the mount to rush in and start attacking then immediately when you go out of combat, re-mount to be able to run fast to the next mob.
Okay, wow. I was working off of how I did last year, since the event seemed more or less the same - however - now I agree with the OP here. This event is SUPER broken now that everyone scales to 60. The people at the top ranks are ranged classes that have 200+ kills and there's 6 minutes left in the event!

Another example of how broken the scaling is. Scaled down, you are A GOD. Scaled up, you are dead meat.

I don't understand why they changed it in the first place. Enemies that scaled up to you (instead of you scaling up/down to the enemies) worked just fine. People at 60 had a bit of a challenge (I remember getting cocky and having trolls nearly kill me a few times), people at 10 weren't totally hopeless. With everyone at 60, it means anyone below 60 is doing awful and anyone above 60 is doing fantastic. It's not really fair.
cry much? there's 4 events, only 1 is a kill contest, the other 3 are gathering contests, and people still complain #smf
anyway right now the lag is so broken it hardly matters
Yea the changes to level scaling has screwed things up. But I honestly thought the first few complaints would be about how the new faster mounts and the run speed bonuses have made the chicken chasing event unfair.

The Troll event is the only other source of Filigree and Dyes beside the Daily Celebration of Summer task.
If a player wants to craft (Sunite Fashion, Food stuffs) they need those items. Ranking higher in the Troll kill gives a scaling reward of these items
Also low level players. The scaling means that someone at level 10 or so can't get a hit in, while the high end level 70s can one shot them all from ranged attacks. It's very badly designed. Similarly for the flower gathering, low level characters cannot survive the kobolds while higher levels just steal the flowers from under them.
I gave up with my OP. Was taking a lot of time and ending with 5 to 10 kills while the winners ended with hundreds.
Changed to my SW and then it's piece of cake.
Not very well planned, I think.

Or, if you dont really enjoy the event for whatever the reason, you could just spend the same amount of time on farming something else! Then use the AD you made to just buy the reward off AH!
*Unless you really want the water horse... then good luck! :D
I've been finding the events a lot of fun. My only small complaint is that I find them about 5 mins too long. My eyes start to get a bit strained with all the effects going off during the troll invasion and the water fight - and there's only so much fun you can have chasing pigs and chickens around!

Should've made an epic Boar instead of Blue Ribbon Pig, go little blackie!

wrong you don't need that to make food. if you really want to make the garb you can always buy mats from the AH. or group up with DPS. not everything has to be tuned for a solo tank #ffs shocking, I know.

Needed to make the Hero's Feasts from portable altars.
The filigrees and dyes appear to sell for considerably more than anything you can make with them, tbh. For the info of anyone looking for profits.
I put everything I got (that's not nodrop) on the AH, so there's plenty there. being this is now my 3rd time doing this event, have no real interest. troll fight was better before they added those dumb blocking hay bales (and when AS had unlimited targets... )
I will never understand why people push to get top rank in the summer event. The bonuses you get for gold or silver aren't worth the effort and just getting a point is enough to give you plenty of materials for crafting.

The water event is nice but as GF I cant dodge out of the areas. Trolls and water event is nothing that I ever could get a good rank.
And about the KI: The trolls sometimes get stuck in the hills. And the pigs get bugged on the stonewall often.

PS - And Radiant Strike, though it's a shorter range.

Getting water horse is next to zero effort. You just need to talk to the lady everyday. No need to do any event.
But then again, I like having fun. So I didn't get 1st place. Oh well. It's a video game. My life continues.
