Would you want a terran empire mini faction

jorantomalakjorantomalak Member Posts: 7,133 Arc User
Would anyone want a terran empire mini factin like AoY?, except at the end of the tutorial you choose either KDF or FED, the story could be your a terran officer who via the missions you wind up at odds with admiral leeta , and are hell bent to stop her plans w/e that would be, in the end you cant go back to the terran empire becuase they would put you to death , so your only option is to join either the KDF or FEDs and assist them in their ongoing campaigns against leeta and the terran empire.

I'd be for it if it let you picked either side like you said. As an aside you could also set it up so the Terran character has access to native faction ships. So create a fed terran, it'd have access to T6 fed ships as kdf. Terran KDF character would have access to KDF ships fed side.

What I would want from a Terran faction would never work with the limited resources the STO Dev team has, and that is a full blown unique 1-60 leveling experience full of opportunities to be cruel and oppressive to anyone you see fit. Essentially, I'd want to be able to do everything you can do in a dark side playthrough of SW:KotOR, without the Force stuff obviously.

Its a good idea in principle but I don't think the game engine would support the full layered mapping for the Mirror universe. After the tutorial is done, you would have to crossover after defeating Leeta and defect to your chosen faction in the prime.
Essentially it would almost be a different game to do all the episodes from a mirror perspective but if it was done, then slap an R-18 cert on the game to gain maximum potential. If you gonna be a bad guy then you best follow through.

the game in general needs a fresh injection of playable factions, a playable Romulan star empire or some of the other rebel factions such as Gorn, Klingon rebels and Maquis would be nice additions as well

    Nope.

A Mirror Universe faction would be dumb, and pointless, as it would offer nothing but the races and abilities we already have.

Cardassians, The Dominion, the Borg Cooperative, all deserve to be made factions before the Mirror Universe.

Not to mention the like 70+ Federation member species/allied species we don't have in-game yet, that should be added to the Fed faction.

the cardassian and dominion factions could be a possibility, however the borg co-op i doubt it since the playable borg race is locked behind LTS

No, but I would support a Mirror Universe Bundle in the C-Store that allowed us to unlock MU Registry Prefixes and Ship Skins on all of our vessels, some more MU Uniform options that we don't already have, and maybe add in some MU Titles.

I would want it, but dine differently. As I posted elsewhere:

The resurgent Terran Empire has expanded far too quickly to sustain itself properly, hence the incursions into the Prime Universe for resources. The Empire is engaged in a protracted bluff game with the other powers, but a few Terran Imperials are seeing the writing on the wall, knowing that the Empire will soon collapse, and as such defected to the Prime Universe.
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Ok. Where should I start. I like the Idea. There is a thing in mirror universe called Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. Those guys can join KDF, while the Terrans should join the Feds. Several missions to lvl 10, switching universe, a few clashes with Leeta's assassins and there it is, lvl 60. Ships are there, only thing Mirror characters would bring to the "Prime Universe" is Mirror skin for ships and few other Mirrory thingies. Let's give the guys who will actually make this happen to decide what exactly. I know it can be done. It's not that hard. At least I think. What do I know of programing the game. All the ships exist in game now. Slap your character bound Mirror skin and that's it. Starter ship could be Mirror Miranda. Once you make a switch you get standard Fed or KDF ships. I would also include Romulans. They are semi-faction which was split in half (arguably) by Tal Shiar, and which was decimated by Hobus event prior to that, that splits in two at lvl 11 to fight among themselves in glory of the Federation or KDF respectively. Sad. Really sad... So let's add Romulans to the mix, why not? By my opinion they deserve to be made complete faction. Give us some other baddies now that Alliance exist to protect and serve the galaxy...

Yes, but it would have to be a full faction with a full level 0 - 30 storyline like the Romulans.

AoY was a failure, as the TOS faction brought nothing but restrictions to the table, for 6 unique tutorial type missions.

Game doesn't really need another half-built faction to be ignored.... but more costumes/ship costumes/etc wouldn't suck. ;)

Also no, but more because adding Terrans would mean the KDF get even less attention than they do now.

      Pointless and Boring.
We already have Terran Empire ships, ship skins, costumes and weapons. And quite frankly I can't see them as being very interesting as a faction as they tend to just be evil in a rather cliche way.

It would be fun, but what age rating does STO have? A playable Terran faction would mean for sure the game would need a mature rating. There's simply no avoiding dark to pitch black themes, when playing as a Terran.

I voted no for one reason it would be yet another faction that after initial episodes would be left out to dry in favor of the Federation focused episodes we have. Just glad that the Klingon empire got a little love in the Iconian story arc with the raid that sadly got Khaless killed. Wish they would do more Klingon and Romulan focused episodes in the near future.

More factions are good. However, if PWE adds another mini faction. They need to learn from the massive mistake they made with the Romulan mess. Let players choose to be evil! What ruined the Romulan half-faction for me was not being able to align myself with Empress Sela. Adding a few evil or even more grey area choices for mission dialog and the slight twist in their outcome sometimes shouldn't be too much to ask for. What makes STO really boring to play is the merging of the factions. PWE puts little to no effort into differentiating the content at all, which purely makes their efforts seem lazy and makes playing multiple characters pointless when the outcome is always the same, regardless of player race, faction, alliance, etc.
