    Very interesting prompts. :)

Will need to see if I have any ideas (even though I have plenty of unfinished stories from EARLIER LCs that I need to work up the inspiration to finish! )

Don't worry, it's more of an interlude until I finish my final ULC26 prompt, hopefully tying this in.

Edit: Also, if you have read one of my previous ULC entries, in 24 or 25, it's alluded that they (Tekhav and Nali) had a descendant in the Republic, who had sided with the KDF. He was a Delta Recruit I've had on a backburner, maybe I'll use one of these prompts to show you guys some more about him and his history!

Thank you for the enthusiasm, I really was in two minds about writing this (let alone making it long enough for other plot points I had, to come through) I hope the theme and homages in the names, has come across B)

Thanks for going ahead and posting. I have a loose idea for "Vader, I Am Your Son" but I've basically only got a piece of the middle of the story and I'm not sure how to get to it.

Visuban sounds... familiar. (Aside from the fact that his name resembles 'Vis Uban', the name of a planet from Stargate.)

Is it anyone who should be dead?

Well, I've done one, based on @starswordc 's prompt. (Turned out overly long, too - I had to split it over two posts. Sorry about that!)

@marcusdkane Heh, I knew it had to be Marcus.

@shevet Not so much 'fun' as your usual fare, but definitely interesting. Now I'm wondering if Two's going to be coming back...

Welp. After my rather brief efforts up to this point, I've gone and hammered out a 5000 worder.

    Notes:
    • In my headcanon, season 11/ AOY hasn’t happened. The alliance is still very much in recovery mode, and TF7s presence in the Delta Quadrant is causing friction at SFC.
    • The ‘fleet escort’ (for those newer to the game) is the former name for the Patrol Escort (the Dervish/Herme/Gryphon/Maelstrom/Tempest line). The name was changed in season 6 when fleet ships became a thing. I retain the old name for reasons I won’t bore you with.

@code743 - So life without the Borg invasion? Interesting how the post-Vega Starfleet isn't just quite a fit. I liked it.

@marcusdkane Marcus ever gets really tired of living he's going to have to find a supernova wavefront, I think. The universe isn't ready to give up on him.

This is the thing with immortals, they just Don't Stay Dead :D But to touch on the point of getting tired of living... That enoui is usually an immortal's greatest weakness... Marcus, was a pretty tormented soul, psychologically-speaking. Visuban, on the other hand, is an entirely different kettle of fish and an entirely new personality. He's not only an immortal living in a community of other immortals, but he quite literally doesn't know any different. I'd say the universe has put him exactly where he needs to be, to actually find contentment B) I hope you enjoyed the other gags and references B)

@aten66 , I really enjoyed that. Nice, emotional story.

Ditto @shevet, nice to see Ronnie again. Good job on the emotional torque, and the question of how to regain control of a system when your opponent is fully in control of it.
Also good to see Section 31 is still as pointlessly villainous as ever. That's how the organization really needs to be written, and hasn't been since DS9: human-nationalists wackos doing the unnecessary evil.
I wonder if Ronnie decides to check out Eta Palinuri afterward anyway, just to see what she can frak up.

    @marcusdkane: Nice punchline with the
opera recitals in the targ pit.
That cracked me up. And it's a nice change to see Klingons actually apologizing for attacking civilians.

@code743: Wow, just, wow. Really interesting the stuff people do with liberated Borg, and that was a really good approach to the "glitch in the Matrix" style.
I'm almost disappointed that the middle sections turned out to just be a dream; they could be good fodder for the "What If?" prompt on the next redux.

Thanks, I'm glad it gave you a chuckle B) the vibe I got when writing was two-fold. Partly that as a scientist, Khoq is somewhat better mannered than some of his brethren, but also thought that to attack an (essentially) unarmed person (or at least someone who posed no real threat to a Klingon Warrior) was dishonorable, and not what Ty'Gokor would expect of its graduates...

    I really liked the
    time travelling daughter
    idea B)

That was actually the idea that inspired the whole prompt: I just woke up one morning thinking about these lines:
    "I'm Reshek Taryn."

"Gaarra, I didn't know you had any other relatives in the service.

"Neither did he. Captain Kanril, I'm your daughter."
The rest of the story was me trying to justify using them.
What I ended up with was an attempt to take the timecops idea, which is decent fodder for stories, and reconstruct it and create a Grand Unified Theory of Star Trek Time Travel so that it made more sense than the current time war arc, and would more fully explain why timelines that ought to be vastly different, e.g. the mirror universe, still end up sharing major features of the prime universe.

I was also trying to avoid something that I, @shevet, and @patrickngo all have complained about at various times: the timecops in the official story always end up looking like idiots or tyrants (or idiotic tyrants).

You definitely succeeded in that regard. I keep meaning to do a little time-cop bit which would touch on that notion, but finding the motivation to actually sit down and write it, has been a bit scarce lately...

I hope you liked the deliberate mixup in the Klingon's insult to Xelif B)
