I hope you liked the deliberate mixup in the Klingon's insult to Xelif B)
"ghor chap HuD"? Sorry, you'll have to explain that one to me. I failed miserably when I tried to translate it. I'm a lot better with Romulan than Klingon.

An incorrectly translated slur, of a misunderstood reference, delivered to someone who wouldn't understand it anyway... Essentially, someone trying to be clever with their insults and failing ;)

Well, phekk, I translated the words but I missed the reference completely. Good one!

Thanks, I do try and throw little references and gags into my stuff B) For example, in the 'Dinner with the Inlaws' piece, Jedda says she'll probably wind up as a crazy cat lady, and the Yeoman who then speaks to her, was called Sadie... In Academy Daze, Jedda was indeed seen to be just that, with a cat called Sadie :D

@code743: Wow, just, wow. Really interesting the stuff people do with liberated Borg, and that was a really good approach to the "glitch in the Matrix" style.
I'm almost disappointed that the middle sections turned out to just be a dream; they could be good fodder for the "What If?" prompt on the next redux.

Thanks. I did the rounds of my cast of bloody thousands (my name is Code743 and I'm an altoholic) and could have applied this prompt to a number of them. I settled on Amber due to her pre and post assimilation outlooks being so different, which made it much easier plot-wise for me to illustrate that her old crew had spotted something amiss.

With 22 toons, their various alter-egos (read: same toon, different look and ship) and other characters I've introduced along the way, I have dozens of what ifs to mull over when the redux comes.

Heh. I snuck in a couple myself. Besides the Doctor Who reference that Eleya lampshaded (and then got a lampshade hung on her lampshading it), those coordinates where the ground team beamed in aren't random numbers. Try seeing where you end up if you plug them into Google Maps.

Worfie and I also snuck in a couple references to our version of the "Future History of the World". Notice that Germany has a Kaiser again (World War III-related alternate history w@nk Worfie came up with after playing too much Hearts of Iron III that I thought was funny), and that San'a is now in Jordan: the Arabian peninsula kind of fell apart from a combination of the oil market crashing from the green energy boom and being overrun by the Khanate, and the Jordanians now control most of it, Mecca included. Also, Kurdistan is an independent country now.

The first time I put them in, I was shown somewhere in Turkey, the next time I did it, it showed somewhere in North America, so you'll have to explain that one :D

I'd rather not comment on Worfie's contribution, for two different reasons, but I do agree, that when the world stops relying on oil, Arabian wealth is going to vanish, and I could see future Jordanians picking up the pieces B)

Ahhh, I figured that it was likely to be 'someone's address', but the funny thing is when it showed me somewhere in Turkey, a very nearby place had 'Kirk' as part of the name, which was why I was confused over which was right, and the reference being made ^_^

I hope the references to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein came across, but the other sneaky ones I threw in, were:

Q'sha, daughter of L'uq: Klingonization of the names Kesha, and Luke (because I have a dark sense of humor)

And the Ba'ku girl Liet, and Q'sha being an imperial planetologist, were duel references to Doctor Liet Kynes, the imperial planetologist in Dune B)

To continue my ULC 26 prompt, enjoy hors Q d'oeuvres, followed by the main course Second Chance Heroics, to be concluded at a later date.

If you squint hard enough, you might see some things come together, as I pulled from previous prompts and unpublished ideas sitting half-baked in my computer files, so I understand (edit: and will try to answer) any confusing points.

Part 2 of ?, is up, named Second Chance at Happiness.

I'm sure you could look up the songs that inspired me, I'm not good at linking them in with BBcode.

If it seems a little confusing, please do tell since I'm not too sure how the flow sounds to me. I wrote this up on two different PADDS at one point, so coherently joining the two was a little exercise in my writing.

Cookies if you name the placement of a small Star Trek in-joke I placed among my other references, if you realize what it is. It's not much, but it gave me a chuckle where I put it. Let me tell you, it's pretty obvious if you know your Lore. *wink, wink*

Edit: Something I swore I added in somewhere, but Corbin Bernsen reprises his role alas Q2!

Interesting ideas, specially the alternate enterprise one. Of my char's Rhonda Evans on the Heinlein would be a natural for that kind of situation-so of course I need to make it happen to someone else instead who isn't used to alt universe weirdness. :D

I definitely enjoyed this more than the preceding parts, I think because it just got straight into the action, rather than the build up which the subsequent parts had... It really reminded me of the feel of Back to the Future's diner scene, and that sense of welcoming and contentment was nice, and the details of the place were absolutely spot on. I'm guessing Amanda was the fledgeling Q from TNG? The reference to Lolani was also nice B)

For the leeceding parts, I loved the TOS namedrops, and seeing Nancy and Zef again was very cool B) I did wonder if the girl in the KT uniform was Mary Sue?

This felt plenty coherent to me - nice slow pace to it - my thought was to the Ancients' diner on Stargate that Daniel spent some time in, though there's a lot of sources for this kind of thing.

It was nice for Drake to get some kind of reward.

Honestly never crosse my mind until I read this, but the diner was a coincidence. I was talking the other day about fond childhood memories, of an A&W Rootbeer drive-in diner, and had watched Voyager's episode with the Q who wanted to die, and was inspired to write how the Continuum had changed with that Q's death and introduction of Junior. Hence the Diner was born.

Never saw Lolani, but it was an amazing coincidence since I just pulled Star Trek Actor names from the web, but yes Amanda was the Amanda Rogers who the Q took in. For the fiftieth I had to make TOS an integral part of this story! And Companion!Nancy and Redjac!Zef, too good of an Idea to pass up once it crossed my mind. Mary Sue, the original parody character, had to bring her in somehow, it even got me to look up a very funny three part Kelvin!Sue series I had originally found on Devianart. Very addictive, but inspiring in its own way. Funny enough I thought of her being 'evil' as just her misunderstanding Trelane's goals for total control.

Actually this was my attempt at linking my past ULC Entries together, my Nexus prompt, for instance, was the setting I based with the black hole. And other things...

@antonine3258: A "probably, maybe not". I like that approach to the prompt. Nice little story.
