Game launcher bug

If i start the game Launcer the launcher says: Unable to authenticate.

So what is the problem?

    sever must be down... give it a little while.... exp same issue

    I got kicked on a character change.

    Seems to be more than just STO. Some have reported that all Cryptic games are down.

    On the last day for getting special Boffs and mission rewards.SMH. They need to extend it until friday.

    im glad im not the only one i bout had a heart attack because i thought someone maybe TRIBBLE my account so i frantically changed my password and it was still the same

    Same issue. Whilst in game earlier, also recieved times where i could not respawn. Watched an entire match play out, with people thinking i was refusing to respawn. Could chat!

    They do not need to extend it, i have 12 plus characters and finally got the last one today. Yes i'm busy! There is no need to ask for extensions, all the time. It was Extended one day!

    just reopened the launcher for the the 100th time and "Star Trek Online is currently offline. We are aware of this issue and currently working on bringing it back online as soon as possible" was poping up.

    Okay folks, if you're still having issues even after todays downtime (which how i missed this thread when doing the merging who only knows... I blame no coffee)

    There needs to be some details happening here - Please read http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155 and post replies so if there is a common thread it's easier to track down then just throwing out guesses.
