Windows Requirements Questions...

It says on this page, at the bottom that STo will not pay/run on a Windows 8 computer. As I am in the market for a new computer, all I can find are Windows 8 machines...

As a Linux guy myself, I'm not used to making a purchase such as this. I have a few questions:

1) Will STO install/run/play on a Windows 8 Machine?
2) Will a dual-boot setup (part Win, part Linux) affect the playability of STO?
3) Is STO more reliable on a Desktop or on a Laptop?

Thanks for your time, and any suggestions, help, answers you may offer...

    It doesn't say it won't run, the system requirements mean that is the least you have to have. It does run on Windows 8, with a dual boot setup and as with most games desktop is preferred over laptop but it does run on a laptop that meets those requirements.

    I can confirm the game runs and runs well on my windows 8 sony vaio.

    ..which is currently in the shop being serviced for a busted cooling fan and Doa dvd drive.

    I am running a Dell Inspiron i7 Quad-core with Win 8.1 and have no problem what
    so ever with the game.
