Confirmed for Mindscape on my TOS character as well - and I remember running into it before on one of my previous toons. Something else I noticed is that the cutscene at the end of Astrometrics (where Tuvok points out the Northwest Passage) no longer seems to play. Instead, I was brought back to the ready room, where there…
I'll second this one. In fact, these might be my favorite tier 6 starships for both the cruiser and science lines. While the command cruisers all have their merits, I found their special consoles a bit lackluster, so I´d advise against getting the entire pack. The Pathfinder is a very versatile ship - it has all the…
I'm quite content with the ships I have at the moment (and which do not include the tier 5 versions of these ships), so likely no direct investment from me. If I do get them later it will likely be largely through dil conversion, I have a lot of it stored, but the exchange rates are not very favorable atm. There's a bit of…
It would be a fun statistic if Cryptic could check the server for the number of different and/or unique ship names in use, or perhaps the most common ship names in use. I'm betting the numbers would be very high.
A combination of appearance and performance, but mostly appearance. The Arbiter surprised me with its flexibility, and its looks if combined with the Avenger saucer. It's my latest purchase and I'm very happy with it. Before that, I'd have said the Patrol Escort, which is hands down my favorite Cryptic design. The ship I'm…
I found both the Patrol Escort and the Star Cruiser great fun to fly, my initial 2 characters each flew one. The Patrol Escort stands out as one of the beefier escorts IMO, it can take quite a bit of damage. The Tempest variant from the C-store also comes with a very nice "artillery" console. The Star Cruiser, as noted…
There is also a sixth spot near the Promenade. The full list, as far as I know, is:* 2 spots east of the resort * 3 spots south of the promenade * 1 spot north of the promenade
Others provided some excellent answers above, but here's a bit more: 1. As a rule of thumb, anything that's not under the queued events tab can be run solo (there are a few exceptions, the game will tell you so). 2. Nothing to add to the above. 3. The reason you might have heard this "pay to win" argument is that the…
While I don't really have a fixed top 10 list, it might look something like this: 10. Message in a Bottle (VGR) 9. The Chase (TNG) 8. Face of the Enemy (TNG) 7. The Way of the Warrior (DS9) 6. First Contact (TNG) 5. Scorpion (VGR) 5. In the Pale Moonlight (DS9) 4. All Good Things (TNG) 3. Call to Arms (DS9) 2. Preemptive…
This is more or less correct. The new store is only for Pearls, the item previously used to buy the summer event ships. You could only use these as input for the reputation project to buy the ship, and pearls are being retired. Favors on the other hand, are not. These are used to buy the summer event items at the vendors…
These are two completely different contacts. IIRC, the Xarantine freighters are specifically for a KDF raiding mission. Given that the Deferi contacts were added in the previous patch, I'm assuming Cryptic is repairing the mission contacts first and the trade contacts later.
I liked it too. It helped establish Paris´s role in the STO universe and I liked the idea of him leading a group of expert pilots as his `career advancement´. We all know he's not exactly admiral material. The new characters are a bit generic, but they did feel like a real team and I enjoyed that. As for the mission…
Nice to see some love for this one. I still very much like my kitbashed version of it too. My top ship is still the Blockade Runner (Steamrunner), which has the advantage of not only being my favorite Trek design but it also fits my prefered playing style of more tanky escorts like a glove. Of the Cryptic originals, it's…
Very, very welcome news indeed. Things in this post I like:* Optionals being optional again. * Testing before mass launch. * The post itself: yay for communication! As for the rewards, I like the idea but it's less of a concern for me. I just want to be sure I've got a reasonable chance of a PUG victory and have fun doing…
I've compiled a playlist from older Trek game soundtracks, like Starfleet Academy, both Armadas and Birth of the Federation. It helps to spice things up and still remain in-universe. :)
There are a few other discrepancies here and there. I once tried to create an overlay of the STO map and the Star Charts map, and if I recall that process then Tau Dewa is actually a block of 4 sectors wide squeezed into 3. I also recall Memory Alpha being originally one block further to the left than STO put it, and there…
As a map nut and geographer by trade, I had to respond to this. First things first: nice maps! I tend to have the systems memorized, but this will certainly be useful to new players looking for the more obscure things like patrol missions. Some things you could consider adding:* The "roaming" contacts, like the freighter…
Ranking the Star... eh, Treks: 1. Exploration Missions 2. More Episodes 3. More Fleet Functionality 4. More Foundry Functionality 5. More PvP Queues I put exploration first as I figure it might be worth more replay value than episodes, but those two are a close call and way out in front of the others as far as I'm…
I agree with the OP - and prefer to fly ships native to the faction too. The alien ships I own, I generally only take out for a bit of single player fun every now and again. I like darthpetersen´s idea for a neutral faction, and am in fact building a Delta Quadrant version of that right now, using a Talaxian captain, the…
I think this was a fine gesture. Sure, it's a shame the rep projects were taken out, but I can understand why and am not all that surprised. It's great that we're getting both an explanation and a gesture of goodwill to compensate this time around.
I'm still figuring out the BOFF system, but I agree: this has been a great update. Especially Dust to Dust, and since the OP didn't mention it specifically: kudos for the voice acting. Kim Rhodes did a great job!
A selection of some of my most used ships, I tend to reuse the same themes: Fleet Star Cruiser: USS Mistral (the storm wind from southern France) D'Kora Marauder: Windfall (another wind, with a Ferengi twist) Blockade Runner: USS Utrecht (Dutch city / home town) Advanced Vessel: USS Van Leeuwenhoek (Dutch scientist,…
I'm just happy to hear improvements are on the way. Some folks seem to be upset that it's going to take more time. I can understand that, but I'd rather they take the time and do it right, rather than rush into a half-finished patch. Regardless, it's good to have communication from the team.
One tip is that each of the mark types now gives a 55 mark daily bonus on top of the first marks you acquire per type. You can thus do short missions to get that bonus and then you'll have enough marks to run the daily reputation project for 2 days minimum (needs 30 per day). What to focus on depends on your preferences.…
