...and of course, as is so often the case, the next try after a forum post results in success. I changed nothing, it just randomly decided 10th time's the charm.
I have never completed this. It blocks at 3/4 every single time. I can't possibly be killing every group too fast. I'm not even playing smart, just smashing "1" repeatedly.
98+% of players, returning or otherwise, will never read the forums. Not once. Most players' opinion of the game is based on the game, not the forum drama.
Something like 1% to 2%, yep. And you're spot on about the rage; happy people play the game, because they're happy. People who aren't having fun in the game go do something else, sometimes including the forums.
Most of the mods got fired recently. Those remaining have personal issues going on, and are unable to moderate right now. As a former mod, I can tell you that they're absolutely allowed to post however much they like. They're also players, and don't necessarily agree with everything PWE/Cryptic choose to do in the game.…
I used to spend a lot of time in the pizza place, asking people who were being loud to please consider the feelings of those around them, which usually was enough to solve the problem because it's mostly a great bunch of customers. Sometimes somebody wouldn't listen, and then I'd let the manager know and he'd take care of…
CBS absolutely does not own the game. They own the IP, and they license that IP to Cryptic. Cryptic owns the game, and runs it. Perfect World Entertainment, their parent company, has to report these assets and licensing costs in their yearly financial statements; go read them if you want to verify what I've said.
I'm still here. Not a mod anymore. Don't play the game much, but I'm in chat most days. You can mostly find me in EQ2, anticipating EQN. I'm sure I'll be back to STO some day, it's a great game; I'd just done most of what there was to be done so many times, I didn't want to do it all over again. Some day I'll roll a new…
I remember when I was young, there were people who objected to some companies' mail order giveaways because they required you to give a home address, not a PO Box. Nobody stopped doing their giveaways because of this. Those giveaways still generated lots of commerce. Nobody went out of business due to the protests. If you…
That's typical of I/O overlays of any kind on Windows. Happens with Steam, Raptr, XFire, even TeamSpeak and Ventrilo if you're using overlays. I only know of two ways they could fix that (which is not to say there aren't more, I'm not much of a Windows programmer): 1) Let you turn off the overlay functionality. 2)…
It's actually pretty simple: People on Facebook and Twitter share with other people on Facebook and Twitter, many of whom aren't playing the game. They share a LOT. Some of those they share with will end up playing the game as a result of those shares, which will be more interesting since they contain a contest than they…
Of course, switching to Steam if you're not already using it, just to avoid ARC, would be kind of silly. Steam's got its own merits, but very nearly every objection to ARC that isn't "I already have Steam" applies equally to Steam. Nearly. Plus nothing says PWE won't someday have Steam launch ARC and STO through ARC. ;)
That's the worst feature IMHO. If one application can store the credentials, another can hijack them. If a BUNCH of games are "convenient and easy to use" through a single application, then there's increase incentive for malware writers to target that single application. Why hack each game individually when you can hack a…
