At the risk of sounding thick..... Is the only way to progress now to buy with zen a T5 ship? T6 will be fine, great advice here, especially ships that can be fitted to use beams or cannons etc , but got to get there first. edit: meant to include apart from joining a fleet and having enough fleet marks or using the exchange

Just hit lvl50. Noticed no freebie ship upgrade. Dos this mean to get a t5 ship I need to buy zen? Only got around 38k dilithium so that isnt an option either. Is this how game is suppsed to work? As an aside, I should get the t6 vulcan scout as almost finished the Q missions......by skin of my teeth if 22nd is final day.

I have to admit, that although the ground missions are clunky, the storylines are generally very good and fun. Just near the end of completing Eposode 2 and the Reman story has a lot of ground missions and long ones at that, but they have been fun due to the storyline.

Ground combat hasn't been a problem so far. Skills set for crits & healing. I just go in pew pew and all done, boring really and space is where it is at. I didnt realise that the Ker'rat mission was in a pvp zone... No idea how I picked that up but plenty to do so will drop it. Not joining a fleet for now. Thanks for build suggestion will take a look tonight.

Thanks again folks for the advice. Swapped out my beams for the cannons I had picked up - changed out skills etc and re-trained skills to suit. Realised I am thick. I already have the tier 2 ship - didn't remember that you start out in the tutorials in light cruiser. Sorry been several years since I played.

Returned also after only ever playing first free month on release. Managed to do the 2 discovery missions at lvl14 (was 16 by end) in my starter tactical ship so no idea why you are struggling ? Check your gear and upgrade to better versions this worked for me.
