Actually they posted at 6pm saying it'd go down in 15 minutes for 1 hour. Then they extended it by 45 minutes, 6pm + 15 minutess + 1 hour + 45 minutes = 8pm. You just forgot to calculate the 15 minute advance notice for the downtime.

About the whinging/whining thing. It was partially humor (and yes I'm a bloody American) but also a bit of a blonde moment.
