Is the STO patch utility using any sort of encryption during download? Some of Microsoft's security patches broke SSL cert validation at some of my work's DEV systems -- I'm wondering if something similar might be happening on STO's installer. I'll try to post my STO error log contents once I get home.
One of the STO Error logs show a CRC error upon decompressing a file, so Cryptic Installer re-downloads the same file, only to encounter the same CRC error over, and over, and over. Either one or more patch file(s) itself is bad, or they are being corrupted during the file transfer download process. This also happens on a…
I'm seeing this same issue as well, even from a fresh install attempt. STO Error logs show CRC errors on one of the downloaded patch files, so Cryptic installer re-downloads the file again, and again, and again, each time encountering the CRC error on unpack. This sounds like the patch file is corrupt at the patch server…
I fly primarily lobi and lockbox ships, so here are the new T6 ships I'd like to see: -T6 Nicor Bio-Warship -T6 Möbius and Wells timeships (these came from the future and originally designed as T20+, so upgrading them to T6 should have been trivial).
I apologize -- my first post failed to mention that I was talking about ordinance sets with phaser damage as a set power as opposed to a console stat. This matters because of how damage is calculated by STO. Set bonuses are calculated last, thereby resulting in higher net damage values. The Quantum Phase Converter has a…
It must be a PEBKAC error ;) The last time I encountered this error, I had to reload the whole STO client since some of the files probably got corrupted, but who knows...
Some of the best gear come only from the reputation sets. Here are my some of my votes for Best-in-Slot Rep Gear: 1) Iconian Shield -- 15% all energy resists, hot restart, removes 1 debuff every 10 seconds. 2) Iconian Deflector -- when upgraded to Ultra Rare, it gets the [SciCdr] mod. This cuts all sci BOFF skill cooldowns…
No matter what happens to KLW, it still adds more net DPS than going without it. The persistent KLW multiple proc effects are now gone, but the damage growth root cause still remains. This is what the latest torpedo nerf aims to resolve. The primary issue being remedied by Cryptic is the multiplying AoE torpedo effects…
I'm running an AP Rainbow Mobius with the following weapons: Antiproton Beam Bank with [Over]load mod (red) Chroniton Dual Beam Array (rotating color) Herald Antiproton Beam Array (dark purple) Ancient Omni Beam Array (red) Antiproton Beam Array with [Over]load (red) Kinetic Cutting Beam (thin red/orange) Phased Quantum…
My three favorite ships are 1) Krenim Dread 2) Mobius Destroyer 3) Manticore Heavy Destroyer Of the three ships listed above, the Krenim Dreadnought punches out the highest DPS thanks to Numeric Superiority + Time to Kill with Manheim Device quantum clones firing Chroniton Lance strikes + two heavy Krenim Raiders + very…
Probably, but I'd be more than willing to shell out $$$ for a dedicated phaser space set (one that hopefully doesn't suck). I've waited 5+ years, but I have patience.
This is also odd -- normally the weapons obtained from STO Reps are gleaned or developed from tech obtained from fallen enemy ships / soldiers. If the Terran Empire is not using Withering Disruptors, when where was the tech procured? There are too many holes in the current season story line, but we'll live with it since we…
What surprises me is that the Terran Empire is even using Disruptors. When they acquired the TOS Prime Universe USS Defiant with its advanced phasers that could decimate the same era's fleets to waste, why did they not build off of that ship's advanced tech? Even now, there are still zero dedicated STO Phaser sets. The…
I tried all three professions but eventually downsized to one tac captain. FoMM is a dull skill compared to Sub-Nukes and Rotate Shield Frequency, but when you can regularly generate DPS numbers that others struggle to reach, then the game becomes much more entertaining.
The T6 Manticore is a nice ship, though I am not sure if Cryptic will just re-skin it for the general masses given that it is an exclusive reward for life-timers and long-time gold subs.
Nope, just these objectives: 1) a decent phaser based space weapon set that specifically boosts phaser damage. Other energy weapon types already enjoy how many damage-boosting sets? 2) a set that specifically benefits phaser cannons and the Defiant's canonical set-up from DS9 None of the proposed new gear nor set powers…
BEST -- too many good candidates here... Hestia, Manticore, JHSS, KDF Pilot Ships, Gal-X re-skinned original model, USS Defiant, USS Sau Paulo, Krenim Anorax Dread, etc. Worst -- Elachi Monbosh, Undine Dromias
Beam Overload power originally drained somewhere around -50 back in season1 IIRC, and weapons fire did not immediately return energy back into weapon subsystems once the firing cycle was done. Beam overload should drain additional power, but the drain should only be around 2x normal weapon power consumption, with drained…
I voted "Other" -- Here is my suggestion regarding Beam Overloads: -Beam Overload should drain weapon power again as follows: BO1 drains an additional 10 weapon power, BO2 drains 15, and BO3 drains 20. Beam Overload damage is calculated at the attacking ship's original weapon power level before BO power drain is applied.…
Here's what I'd like to see on the new T6 Defiant: -Defiant Arsenal Set- -Elite Quad Phaser Cannon [Ac/Dm] CrtD]x2 [CrtH] [Rapid] -- any stats other than the usual [Dmg]x4 garbage. This item is unique (only one may be equipped on any ship). -Heavy Phaser Lance (from the Intel Phantom Escort) -Temporal Battle Cloak -…
I had the misfortune for being grouped with a player last night named Ch*r*ss*@******** (no full names to comply with forum rules) in BHotSE who basically bum-rushed the primary Iconian console in each area. I reminded him/her/it to do the optionals 1st, to which I receive the reply "Optionals are just that, (optionals)".…
I favor beams with the [Over]load mod. The sucker-punch value is quite nice, not to mention the extra +35% shield penetration with certain energy weapons DOFF's. Has anyone tried these with the new Yamato ship trait Subsystem Redundancies?
Agreed - the MVAM ships still die way too fast. A few minor updates can quickly change their viability: 1) All captain passives should be applied to MVAM modules, especially pilots with "scratch the paint" (ignore 1 warp core breach damage) 2) Ship subsection pets like MVAM's and separated saucers automatically spam any…
This makes no sense whatsoever. If the Terran Empire won their Iconian War, then there would be no need for future sourced weapons. If the would have lost the war with the Iconian Conclave without future assistance, there there would be no future Terran Empire to hand any future technologies back to the present Terran…
I just mentioned this in another thread -- the Terran Empire isn't very good at tech research. They tend to make advances only via theft or dumb luck (i.e., in the Mirror Darkly when the TOS USS Defiant fell into their laps). So I have no idea how they can match up against the Prime Universe's ships in this next season…
