I know this post is a month old but I just had the same issue today. I don't know if it's an update that caused it or what but it's annoying.

I had to do a factory reset for my computer and I'm having this issue now too. When I open the ctrl+x it says thing's are being downloaded but it keeps timing out and saying the connection was lost or something. My internet is fine too :/

I've not had this issue, yet. But I've had constant crashing after crashing since the end of may. I'll randomly be able to play for awhile then crash to desktop
