  • I wish I could save myself, but I'm still flying a T5 ship. So I'm clearly doomed.
  • Since you know how most people play the game and what most people want, I assumed we were dabbling in mind reading. I understand that you play the game (and it sounds like other games) in a certain way. And that way is the one that game companies probably love. You're really just buying into a system that is designed to…
  • You can mitigate and backtrack all you want. A few nods to other ways of playing the game are just window dressing when you start throwing around assertions like "most people."
  • Why would you decide anything? That would take some brains and an act of will. Much easier to not think at all. I often log in for a hour a night or a couple of hours on weekends (I actually have a real life, so I'm not going to spend more than that on a game) and I have plenty to do that doesn't at all feel like a grind.…
  • I can completely understand that some parts of the game, maybe many parts, do lend themselves to a collector's approach. And I certainly wouldn't object to tweaking the structure of play in some ways to mitigate that. I guess I just choose to be more subversive about how I go about playing. I don't really care if I have…
  • I'm not grinding for much of anything, nor are many of the people I play with. You grind because you've bought into the notion that you need the very best of everything to actually enjoy the game, which is a pretty limited and perverse view of "enjoy." Again, you've let other people define how to play the game for you.…
  • This is about the most superficial, ridiculous, and one-dimensional analysis I could imagine. Now I know why you log on (though I have no idea why you continue to do so). Perhaps you can expand your limited view enough to understand that not everyone plays like you do. I log and do stuff when it's fun. I don't when it's…
  • If you really think that anyone is "making" you do anything in this game, then you obviously lack any imagination and are probably a little stupid. You've willingly handed this game over to other people, and sacrificed your enjoyment for not much more than the right to continually whine and complain on the forums.
  • Just curious...do you actually play the game or just post on the forums? Engineering proficiency is a ground skill for engineers and is level II for a level 50 character.
  • Frankly, I think the real problem here is the Foundry elite who think they own the tool and need to control the content. It's a game. Whatever is fun is great. I've played this mission a number of times, and I still enjoy it.
  • If you want help starting your own fleet or need a few extra people to help out, I started a chat channel called "FleetofOne" just for that purpose -- if there are people on who have a moment to help, they will. I've seen a bunch of fleets formed that way. And I always have an unfleeted alt ready to contribute.
  • Very well said. But this thread isn't really about logic or reasoning. It's an opportunity for some people to complain about Cryptic and the game. Same old, same old in other words, at least from some people.
  • I hate to derail the thread..oh wait. I have to say, though, this explanation doesn't make any sense. Why is Earth's destruction such a big deal. Are you saying the Federation would have been destroyed? That's a little human-centric, isn't it? Who's to say that the Earth wasn't supposed to have been destroyed? Maybe that…
  • I absolutely agree that they don't need to be mutually exclusive, and in a perfect world, story content would also come with great rewards. I am puzzled over the extent to which so many people seem (and this may or may not be an accurate impression) to value the rewards over the story. It feels very backwards to me.
  • I honestly don't see this obsession with prizes or what you get from doing a mission. Maybe MMOs are all about "gimme this" and "gimme that." I don't know. This is the only MMO I have ever played and the only one I'm likely to play. For me, playing this game is all about entertainment, not about a new shiny collection of…
  • We've already helped set up a number of fleets for single people and small groups of less than 5. There are some really generous folks out there. Thanks to everyone who's been helping. If you want help to form a fleet and if you're willing to give help in return, sign up for the FleetofOne chat channel. Please make sure…
  • Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Just wanted to update this thread by saying that I've started a chat channel ingame called FleetofOne. The idea is to get people together who want to start fleets but have less than five people, and folks who are willing to lend an unfleeted alt. Maybe someone wants to start a solo fleet.…
  • Thanks for joining in. The more people who join, the more help there will be for those who need it.
  • If you need any help forming a fleet, then ask on the FleetofOne chat channel. Whenever I'm in game, I'm happy to lend a hand to anyone creating a fleet.
  • We've got 7 people signed up for FleetofOne now. It's a modest start, but it's a start. If you have any interest in starting a fleet of your own or need one, two, or three more people to stand in (and then leave after), subscribe. Once we have a large enough population, it should be easy to find help.
  • Thanks. Once we get enough people, everyone should be able to make a fleet of their own, if they want. Again, while I started the FleetofOne chat channel with solo fleets in mind, it could also be a valuable resource for a group of four who wants to make a fleet and just needs someone to stand in for the fifth position.…
  • I think we're in really similar places. But I'm certainly not proposing a fleet. I'm proposing a resource for any one that wants to start a fleet but isn't able to get the required 5 people together at one place (in EST) at one time. Here's what I'm hoping for: You want to form a fleet and you need one or more people to…
  • I'm hoping that if enough people sign onto the FleetofOne chat channel, anyone who's interested in making a fleet (of one, two, three, or four) can find some people ingame to help. I can say that I'll always be willing to lend a unfleeted alt and never ask for anything in return.
  • Hey. In the same boat here. I've tried some other fleets, and might still join one, but want a fleet for some of my alts alone. I'd be happy to help you. I also started a chat channel ingame called FleetofOne. I'm hoping that people who want to create solo fleets and are willing to help others do the same will sign up.…
  • I totally got it. I also really appreciate the name of your fleet. Anti-social players unite! oh wait... Anti-social players unite separately! That's better...
  • I'm totally happy to change the name. Don't mean to step on any toes. I guess I've just watched too many commercials for the US Army. :) As an aside, I do plan to keep one character aside and permanently unfleeted so that I can always help others form a fleet.
