Not giving up my career as a physics professor to go work for a video game company, sorry. The software system I work on is six million lines of source code, not counting comments or the stack of other libraries and frameworks it's built on top of. I don't even much care about the fate of the foundry, TBH (it's a nice, and…
It's easy to believe that there would be an up-front investment of labor to convert the *first* foundry mission into a real mission. But months for EACH mission is pure BS. The foundry missions, by design, consist of nothing more than database entries (there is no custom coding involved, because none is possible beyond the…
LOL. Try reaching T6 reputation with every faction on a new character, or generating 3000 Zen for even a single T6 ship in "a matter of a few days". Both take months of playing an average of an hour or two (at least) every day. The most recent fleet holding requires over 67 MILLION dilithium to get the ultimate rewards.
They already have. The original post wants you to believe: Not days, not weeks, but MONTHS. And not months of work for all the missions, mind you, but months of work for EACH INDIVIDUAL MISSION. Ludicrous.
It appears that the cosmetic effect from my Prevailing Innervated Resilient Shields are causing the graphical problem described above. If I disable the visuals from that piece of equipment, the Gagarin behaves as expected in the Ship Tailor. Re-enabling the visuals brings the problem back.
Encountered this problem on two different characters. There is no way to advance the mission after completing the initial conversation with La Forge. Dropping and re-accepting mission, relogging, restarting client, etc did not resolve the problem.
Shield Weakening has no effect at all on damage which hits the hull, by whatever mechanism. With normal (non-resilient) shields, 90% of incoming damage is applied to the shield, and 10% to the hull. Shield Weakening increases the 90% that is applied to shield, just like Shield Hardness reduces it. It has no effect at all…
There is a Battery Expertise bonus skill which replaces Starship Batteries, and does all the same things EXCEPT increasing the duration of EPS Manifold Efficiency. Also, the EPS Maniforld Efficiency tooltip says it is increased by battery skill.
There is a related issue, even with only a single console, that the percentage increase is the % of the base damage of the weapon, before lots of other bonuses, including the Mark and rarity are applied. So if the first console says +30%, it is not really +30% even then, but more like 10% (or even less) increase in the…
It would be reasonable if the game were being designed from scratch, but I'm afraid retuning everything so that the weapons 90% of players have made huge investments in suddenly become 75% less effective sounds like a tough sell.
Not clear to me how "Shield Matching" thoroughly reflects what the skill does. Shield *Mashing*, maybe, lol... (although I like Shield Destruction or Shield Elimination better)
If the skills are kept where they are, "Shield Destruction" or something with a similar flavor (Annihilation, Vaporization, Elimination, etc.) would be a better name.
The addition of more detail to the skill UI tooltips is a great feature of the revamp. As mentioned before, the lack of any UI feedback on Shield Hardness values, and the incorrect display of Shield Regeneration values, are very unfortunate. Another item which is extremely important, but missing any guidance to the player,…
Another thought concerning Damage Control. I still see this skill as an outlier, with extremely low value compared to other skills due to the glacial rate of hull regen in combat. I suggested giving it a passive DoT cleanse chance. Another interesting possibility would be make it reduce the severity of incoming criticals…
Due to the time limit on the mission, the ability was only activated ~5 times in each test; what you suggest vis-a-vis one crit check for the whole duration sounds like the only plausible explanation. For the test on Holodeck (where there are non-crit hits to compare with) the measured crit severity looks consistent with…
- Only installed Tribble yesterday, copied and respecced then - Can't say, see above - Actual performance is different. I tested vs. Starbase 234, identical builds. I unslotted my Conservation of Energy and Positive Feedback Loop traits to reduce random procs. Aux power at 125, I used nothing on the Starbase except Tyken's…
Can confirm that TR tooltip shows significantly less damage on Tribble with identical gear, skill level and Aux power. Trend for other abilities seems to go the opposite way (slightly more damage on Tribble, but not by as wide a margin). Possibly the decrease to TR is to balance out the rather large amount of damage added…
My first impressions of new skill system: Overall, I liked it much more than I expected to. A few skills feel under-tuned, and despite the philosophy not giving people bad options to stumble into, I think some still exist. At the bottom of the list is Damage Control, a really terrible investment; for 3 space points, I get…
Hell, rather than making it abstractly percentage based, let's go back to Star Fleet Battles and have damage put specific systems/weapons out of commission until the boxes ... err, ah ... hull hit points are repaired.
Well, it is a Steam issue because THEY initiated a refund. Suppose I had bought Zen through Steam, and then requested a refund after spending the Zen. Then of course arc would rightly ban me for (in effect) trying to steal from them. But in this case I did NOT request any refund, Steam just decided to initiate one by…
My STO account is banned by arc. After going through the usual steps to login, at the moment it should take me to the character selection screen, it instead pops up a message "Your account has been banned". The arc support page says that if you get banned, you should get an email explaining the reasons, but I didn't…
When I bought the Zen, I was logged in through Steam. As far as I'm aware you have to log in through Steam to purchase Zen with the Steam Wallet. At other times during the weekend, I was logged in through the STO launcher directly.
