I agree with the OP entirely but the one thing that I want to see is if you buy a race in the C-store then you get to use that races features in character customization for the alien race like tails, fur, ears, etc.

I loved the event this year(first winter event that I have had the pleasure of going to on STO). My only problem was at times it felt more like Mardi Gra then winter was being celebrated what with the bead shortage.:)
