They do look like post-Enterprise to me though. As mentioned upthread, TOS is pretty much it's own thing stylistically in comparison to everything afterwards.
That's fantastic on it's own, usually it's just your ground team and maybe a random NPC or two. Looks terrible on the likes of Intel Dreadnought and KDF carrier bridges with just a handful of stations occupied on a large map.
IIRC from the third episode, the Discovery and Glenn were indeed science vessels adapted for DASH drive research. There'll be a bunch of Crossfields out there without it. I don't think the ISS Discovery had one either, Mirror Stamets took a different path and designed the myceleum power system for the Emperor's flagship.
Pretty sure the parts for all the "normal" Federation races are in the Alien CC lists anyway, so it'd be fairly easy to recreate them and later update them to DSC variants in the future if they added them.
They'd even work quite well for current STO era Federation ships. I'd be surprised if we didn't get access to these by some means, maybe even free for the existing lockbox/Lobi ships (yeah, I can dream :)).
Agreed. I've already got a Walker class on one of my AOY characters, and I'm not buying a second one just 'cos I can make a new character with (presumably) DSC style effects built in no matter how pretty they make them :) Don't think there's a realistic method available to them to rebox or transfer Lockbox ships sadly,…
I remember them saying it was just an alternate start rather than a Recruit Event back when they first announced it, and I'd have expected them to advertise it along with today's launch date confirmation if they were. Find out soon enough anyway.
I think Thomas Maronne wrote that eventually they were eventually going to put all the "Battle of the Binary Stars" ships in-game, although that was months back so who knows what'll end up being added. Vague rumours circulating we might be getting an ISS Discovery with the Anniversary "Captain Killy" episode, doubt that…
Because it's pointless, because we just get shouted down with a 2-page rant about how we're wrong and hate Star Trek and are "liberuuuls" along with a pile of dumb internet conspiracy theory nonsense and conservative persecution complex hate. Doesn't exactly make it worth the bother.
From the podcast it seems to be just an alternate start, some speculation it might coincide with a rerun of Temporal Recruitment, but that's all it is at the moment.
After the job they did on VIL, absolutely. Even if it is just a new tutorial and a couple of episodes (expect more down the pipe). Less happy they released DSC ships, weapons and gear earlier that mostly won't be useable on era-specific new characters with possibly screen-correct effects and animations like the AOY ones,…
It seems to be the C-store one, note that if you claim the pack on a Romulan you get both the Romulan Borg and your faction version as well (both BTC).
(flame/troll comment removed) - darkbladejk More seriously, I think it'll fit very well with STO's style and they've already shown they can fill out background events in Trek quite inventively. Plus those of us with DSC styled crews will hopefully get pistols and away uniforms etc. Even those "less enthusiastic" types…
