Didn't the Kentari build an artificial nebula in order to stay hidden? Maybe I am getting my stories crossed, but if that is the case, isn't it well within the people's cultural development to intentionally avoid interstellar relations? The mission and this blog post tend to indicate that is the majority opinion, at the…
I must have done something wrong because there was no last cutscene for me. People in chat were talking about Data, which confused me since I never saw anything like that in my mission. Maybe I accidentally skipped it somehow? Where in the mission did it appear? Before or after we beam back up to space? EDIT: I figured it…
I guess this explains why it became so important that subnucleonic beam be removed from Science captains. Granted, its replacement does almost nothing for Sci captains piloting escorts. But if the goal was to make Sci caps less powerful in PVP, I at least understand why it had to be moved to Sci ships (which any player…
But could it? Give it scaling with drain expertise back, let it stack with MACO set, let drain infection work, but all of that because it becomes a clicky (30s uptime, 2min cooldown) like most other Tier1-4 C-store consoles. That drastically scales back its widespread must-have-ness while still being a go-to option for…
I always wondered that, too. Let it stack with the MACO set passive and scale with drain - just give it a 30s uptime and 2 minute cooldown like almost every other console from that era. @lucho80 thoughts?
I have read that there is a difference between the crit chance and severity between weapon and exotic abilities. For example, Particle Manipulator enhances critical hits "for exotic damage abilities" which seems to be different than the regular crit hit chance and severity listed on the skills tab. When a console or trait…
If the goal was to make choice more important, it has probably achieved that result. For instance, Target Subsystem: Shields may now be just as viable a choice as Beam: Fire at Will. For that reason alone, I like the overall change. Hard to say if the stat changes make everything truly "fair" but it seems to be forcing…
Yes, I know that sometimes maintenance is when things change, but sometimes things end by the clock - not by maintenance. For instance, the R&D packs give a time the event ends, having nothing to do with maintenance: Plenty of short-term events end when there is no patch and they always write it that way in the blog post.…
Post said the packs would be available until 10am PST. It is now 9:30am PST and the packs have been removed. Was the post incorrect or am I missing something?
So you need 600 EXP to reach a new level. Each level rewards you with 500 Arc points. A minimum purchase of 5000 Arc points can buy you $5 worth of store credit. With a minimum of $10 in store credit, you can then buy 1000 Zen that can be applied to STO. So in order to use this method to directly purchase Zen, you first…
@borticuscryptic With so many potential issues brought up in this thread, will the "Known Issues" log update to reflect whether work is still being done on them? If it isn't listed, but we still see problems on the new Tribble build, should we re-report them?
@borticuscryptic Here is my (probably not great) attempt at a suggestion. As far as I understand it, sybsystem targetting 1, 2, and 3 all have a 20% to disable. Their ranks only affect the power drain, which is affected by the science drain skill. The duration of the disable is affected by science control skill. A new…
From the wiki: If a player has 50 power in this subsystem it will allow each of your ships energy weapons to cause 100% of their natural DPS. Every additional point of power applied to this subsystem will increase overall DPS by 2% per weapon. As an example, running 100 weapons power will yield a 100% bonus to weapon DPS…
Just to clarify, if the change is extended to the current max Aux of 145 (+10 from subspace obelisk rift warp core and +10 from enhanced plasma manifold), the net effect is a drop from 1.3 down to 1.225, or -.075. If this is really a simple multiplier to damage, that is a 7.5% nerf on the absolute max (though likely no one…
This would be wonderful to have on each power's tooltip. An Exotic label similar to the Expose and Exploit that used to (sometimes?) show up on ground powers.
I am not sure I understand what benefit all-torpedo builds get as opposed to the benefit all energy would get? Both would have to pick one projectile unlock and one energy unlock.
I think you may be right, but it will probably take us a while to get there. We are used to a skill tree that lets us pick the skills we want to spec into and completely ignore the ones we have no desire to use. This new system does tend to force some on us (subspace decompiler?) even if they are "free" for what we intend…
EDIT: Never mind on my comments/questions, I will just wait and see. Great work guys and gals, this can't have been an easy task. I am eager to see how it all looks!
I never said it was ground only, I don't know where that came from. I said most species bonuses were ground only. Edit: Sorry if it sounds like I am complaining - honestly just wondering since it seems like an obvious advantage, made more obvious now. Still, thanks for the addition Devs!
Thanks but I know aliens already had a +1 as a compensation for lack of a species bonus. But if they used it as a space they missed out on the ground trait most other species had. My point is now they get +2 and don't have to sacrifice anything. There is no obvious tradeoff in selecting an alien with respect to traits.
It may have been touched on already, but do alien species really get 10 ground AND 10 space traits unlocked? I mean, I understood by they got the +1, since alien species don't get an innate species bonus. But are species bonuses really worth +1space and +1ground? Most innate species bonuses are entirely on the ground as it…
You are right on here. This was a wonderful promotion to suport a great cause. Honestly, I think just about everyone who plays STO has probably suffered from either first- or second-hand bullying, probably BECAUSE we are fans of Star Trek and/or gaming. However, you are a little incorrect in what's happening with the keys.…
I got a similar response. I was one who had the errors with processing yesterday and was told since the payment didn't process correctly, they have to wait for more Tier 6 keys to become available to honor the initial bundle. I don't think they are throwing Cryptic under the bus at all, however, just pointing out that they…
This is a great promotion and a good cause to get behind. Thank you to Chase and Cryptic for putting it together. I doubt anyone could have anticipated the quick and heavy response from our community which overloaded the payment processing servers. It really is unfortunate, but no malice towards anyone for trying to do a…
Tried to do this twice and after waiting for confirmation, it errored out during the final processing step. Not sure what else to do at this point but be happy the charity has so much support. Unfortunately, I only wish I could participate.
