Well yeah, I completely agree with that. But we are talking about profitability before WoW. No Direct Downloads back then and frankly video games were rare in standard retailers as it was back then.
No, they do include marketing to the retailers, which is harder than marketing to consumers because they have to convince retailers (usually on a corporate level) of the value of older games, especially considering your point that they lose money if it doesn't sell. But any business management class will tell you that your…
I don't think YOU understand what production costs are. It isn't the 15 cents for the DVD and cardboard. It's marketing (to the retailers), distribution, and labor mainly, but usually has some advertising and in the case of Battle.Net maintenance, as well.
Yeah obviously they combine the numbers for sales before the website launched and thus (not existing) couldn't track the year by year. Also, you're right that it is up to 11 million now (for SC, WC3 still hasn't sold much, also you were thinking that SC sold 1.5 in the first year, WC never was close to that) but most of…
Frost mage was a PvP build, no wonder you had so much trouble. Being bad and being unbalanced are two different things. In this case, you were bad, not underpowered. Arcane was the PvE build. Anyways, on to the comment that matters, Cryptic was it's own production company until they went broke because of fanbois, hence the…
Basically... Well except that my mom never coddled and I probably make more than Cryptic does as a company (not PWE, but probably Cryptic). But besides that, yeah, same thing. ;)
Psh, Frost Shock Mages owned and that was year 2, so you just needed to learn how to play! lol. That said Blizzard was much smaller than Cryptic after CoH going in to Starcraft and ******** III [EDIT: Apparently you can't say the name of that Orcs and Humans game on here??]. I agree with your analogy, I just don't know…
I'm a longtime fan, been playing for many years now so for me, I whine and complain about this stuff, but can you imagine how new people feel? They go into any of 100 different wikis or pirating sites and see the Legacy of Rom banner, click it, try the game out, download for a day, sit in que for 3 hours, get kicked, sit…
I went from New Rom to my Embassy, to the Fleet SB, to Sector Space, flew all the way to ESD, walked around there for a while. Same thing everywhere. One you get in though, it seems to let you do a couple in a row before it starts up again.
Happened to me all day yesterday and today. Been queing and requeing for 20 mins today, about 30x failures in a row. Even when you do get in, it tells you you were removed from the team then you will be removed from the map in 3 secs... Yesterday was the same thing, I was able to run 3 in the hour period it was available…
Yes, a fleet mate was telling me (before I stupidly tried to change characters almost 4 hours ago and never got back on) that she was a Lifer and was #1 of 18k when she changed chars, got in almost instantly. I also see posts by Lifers who can't get in, so I guess it isn't flawless but it helps.
I didn't play Pandaria but a 2 sec Google search told me that it only happened on High capacity servers and that Blizzard gave anyone on a High capacity server free server transfers to Medium or Low capacity servers soo... NO ONE had to queue if they didn't want to. As for Wrath, I had chars on 4 different servers and the…
That is just so completely not true and irrational. I played WoW since launch (I also played STO since launch) and WoW had this issue a couple of times, like the ... uh, 4.0 patch, I think it was? And that big 1.2 or whatever that gave us tracker options and whatnot, but no, it wasn't like this. It didn't happen every week…
I know this sounds like bs, but I am posting for the first time on the forums because of it. I just watched someone kill the cube and both spheres in the beginning of ISE in 3 seconds solo and killed the tac cube at the end in 11 seconds. Parsed about 13 million damage. We all asked how it was possible and she just…
