What should have been done was that the ship(s) should have been in a requisition box like the Dyson ships were. That way, if you were under-level, you had to wait until you were able to captain the ship before you could access it. Why they put it in the store is questionable.

I claimed the Ambassador with my lvl 46 (said earlier she was 42, sorry) Fed-allied ROMULAN. Surely, if she couldn't use it, she wouldn't have been able to claim it. emphasis mine. While we all know that a tier 5 ship is to be captained by a lvl 40+, the "eligibility requirements" for claiming this gift do not specify this.

Oddly, though everyone is saying Romulans cannot claim these ships, I just did on my lvl 42 Federation-allied Romulan! Edit to add: I did have to re-claim with my Federation character, though, as if I'd not done so already with the Romulan. Strange.

I put in a support ticket - not because I'm whinging (ok, maybe a little bit) but because my lvl 17 is an established character (i.e. not made just for this giveaway) who cannot claim this "gift" to use later.
