Many posts have said about the positives of the new Delta Recruitment event, or about ways around to try to migrate the issue. What those posters don't seem to get is that the problem is one of dev's creation. Thus the onus should be on the devs not creating the issue, rather than the players having to endure/fix/migrate…

Ran this event about 10 times today, only once got the crystal shard on my first character. On my other characters no crystal shard even if the normal expected rewards are given out, i.e. mission completed successfully. Update: attempt 11 gained me my second crystal shard, just shows how random the mission is.

The player/customer is obviously entitled to somewhat satisfactory game-play otherwise the gaming companies would never get anyone to play their games. As long as the said missions are available to all and not greyed out.

Although I'm glad this band-aid will help most captains, it still rests on the those responsible to fix the bug so those who don't yet have access to Crack in the Mirror still have a chance at completing their daily.
