Apparently it's not just Wine with problems. VirtualBox too in some instances. Not sure if its the same root cause, but it is a 10.8.2 issue.. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4545033 In the case of VirtualBox, the author(s) are releasing an update to fix it. We can only hope for the same from WineHQ.

I'm not convinced an OS X "native" client wouldn't suffer this problem, since if there were one it'd most likely be based on Cider or some other Wine based/related tool. Does EVE online still work?

I went ahead and updated my wrapper. And oh my. I can actually revert everything back to high quality and it runs as smooth as you like. However I'm still getting startup crashes. Anything I can do to help debug/fix these, or is this FOL?

I've actually not been having many problems on ML. Just a few crashes every now and then. My latest crash log is here: http://d.pr/n/Yawg It's actually pretty fast. Faster than it was under Lion, and doesn't seem to degrade after time like it did before. Not sure whether that's ML, or the latest STO patch.

Software isn't easy, especially when you have a bunch of whiners on your back. Chill out, be patient, and remember that it's down for 2-3 hours *once* per *week*. Seriously, first world problems or what..
