  • Even with the skill reduction, this is expensive. This means that the two problems I see with the high respec cost remain: (1) the system should encourage experimentation, especially in the early days after release, and this does anything but; (2) the high cost means that any attempt to balance the skills (something that…
  • Huh, maybe they were rewarded retroactively. Well, regardless, I'm still curious as to whether retrain tokens that we purchase can be used by any character on an account or only the character we were logged in on when we made the purchase. It dramatically alters the value of buying them in bulk.
  • Are you sure? I know I've retrained one of my characters, and I also know I've never bought a retrain token, so the only place those tokens could've come from is subscription accumulation, and the character in question hit 60 before I was a subscriber.
  • Okay, I got a question: are these tokens account-wide? By that I mean, when you buy or accumulate (through subscription rewards) a token, does it go to an account pool that any of your characters can draw from, or is it attributed to a specific character who has exclusive use of it? I ask because I'm 99% sure it used to go…
  • Okay, so I'm a subscriber and I had another character with a promotion waiting in queue, so I tested taking the promotion. The reskill token was added to that character's total, but to none of my other characters. I'm tempted to buy some retrain tokens and see if they accrue to all my characters or just the one I was…
  • So, anything that is already in the game that adds directly to shield penetration (not the skill, but raw penetration) will be unchanged. Existing builds remain as they were before. But you won't be able to stack more shield penetration using the new skill system. (TLDR: Beam overload doffs, intense focus, self-modulating…
  • That is useful information, but it doesn't solve the underlying problem. Unless sector speed scales dramatically with the new [SecSpd] skill, the Assimilated engine which sets base speed to Warp 14 will still outperform even a fully upgraded epic impulse engine with the [SecSpd-2] modifier. Prior to the changeover, the…
  • I don't think we're in disagreement, and in hindsight I suspect this is not a new change (I'm pretty sure this was also true in past versions of Tribble, we just didn't notice). The key takeaway, though, is the old [Drv] mod has become [SecSpd], and the consequence is that the mod has lost its usefulness in most…
  • Yeah this is particularly aggravating. I don't even use my Iconian engines in sector space because MACO and Assimilated impulse engines are superior, so all that dilithium was literally for nothing. Edit: wait a second, I think you and I both read this as "engines" not "warp cores." The point stands if the tribble note…
  • I have a suggestion: the skill "Defensive Coordination", which gives hanger pets +20% Defense and Damage Resistance. I'm not sure how useful this is for carriers, especially since fighters are really fragile anyway - I need to test it. But I'd suggest replacing this with a skill that gives all your pets "Scratch the Paint"…
  • Science captain, T5-U Vesta. Epic gear, but most DPS comes from weapons and not exotics. Holodeck (from gear, then from gear + skill points) Flow Capacitors: 100 (199) Graviton Generators: 0 (99) Particle Generator: 175 (274) Subspace Decompiler: 25 (25) Tribble: Drain Expertise: 100 (200) Control Expertise: 0 (100) Exotic…
  • I have no problems playing the game normally. In normal play I can switch instances of a given map without any issue. I can't remember a time where switching an instance of a map caused a crash during the transition screen. Also, some of the maps that have historically given me the most trouble are low-populated maps. The…
  • Yes, I did that months ago; it was one of the first things the GMs suggested. It doesn't seem to make a difference, but I imagine the problem could be worse or occur more frequently if on-demand patching was not disabled. I'm not sure what you mean. After a character crashes out, the whole problem is the character can't…
  • Well, at least I'm not unique.
  • I'm going to bump this, because I have a character that has now been inaccessible for several days. Has anyone experienced a bug like this, where a single character on your roster will refuse to load into the game, even as all your other characters will work just fine? Particularly one where the refusal to load has lasted…
  • 1. JamJamz 2. Class K 3. Everyone above seems to think it'll be the Sphere Builders, but I'm not sure why and the only hints I've seen so far have suggested it's the Tzenkethi. Though - I could see the Tzenkethi being agents of the Sphere Builders in the way the Xindi were in Enterprise.
  • While I don't think STO would make a good direct translation to a Star Trek series, I do think that there's promise in terms of what stories could be told in a new TV series. My inclination would be to set a series before/during/after the destruction of Romulus. Keep in mind, the Romulan Neutral Zone was (at least)…
  • I think I may have the same problem. Every once in a while, I'll have a character crash on a transition screen. When this occurs, that character becomes inaccessible to me - I can't log in with it. I'll get to the character screen, and if I try to log in with this character it'll tell me there's a problem and give me the…
  • Q1: Unwrapping Q2: I'd rather not see a new faction added; that developer time could be better spent (IMO). Though, if I had to choose one I'd probably pick the Dominion.
  • Q1: Photoshop. Q2: I'm really fond of the Resolute. It's not exactly a powerhouse, comparatively, but I find it comfortable. Plus I've always been a fan of the Excelsior.
