  • Doesn't the Regenerative Shield Array from the 3 piece Borg set also clear the Borg Shield neutralizer when it procs? It has a 10% chance to activate from all incoming damage, so either you are getting hit, and it procs, cleansing at least one of the problems, or you aren't getting hit, so it doesn't proc, so who cares if…
  • Yes, just something like Flow Capsx2. I'm leaving epic mods out of consideration here. For my drain build, I wanted a flow capsx2 for my secondary deflector like I have on my Tachyon Deflector, but since it isn't possible, I can level the secondary deflector I have up.
  • Thanks Lucho. If you say there aren't any Flow capsx2 mods for them, then I know there isn't. You would have found out by now. :)
  • Wait, are you telling me that the system is completely broken, and that crew has no effect? Or are you telling me that the system does have some effect, but I just can't see it in combat? And it does seem like the original design meant for crew to make a difference (why have absolute crew numbers in the first place unless…
  • From the notes I read about command BOFF abilities, the skill that takes power from life support and adds it to subsystems kills crew in addition to prolonging cooldowns on skills. I don't have it, so I don't know if that's actually what it does. (Makes sense, though.) But it leads me to an odd question: Does anyone who…
  • Okay, that's all very helpful. It's still a pain to not have functional tooltips, but I can kind of theorycraft now. Thanks for the responses. :)
  • That is very disappointing. I am considering a change to my set up, and I can't even figure out the effects of that change. :( Maybe you guys can help me. If I had a choice between putting 5 power into engine or 5 power into shields, what are the pros and cons of each? How does stacking extra defense compare with shield…
  • Is there any way to parse it so I can see what effect it's having?
  • You may very well be right. I've been swapping BOFFs in and out of the universal slot all night. I don't have the gear to make TR2 good enough to shut down some non-boss ships yet. But since subsystem targeting shares a cooldown with BFAW and Beam Overload, I feel like I'm wasting some of my draining potential. However, I…
  • Well, I have two drain BOFF set ups I've been working with: http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=draina_0 http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=drainb_0 I've been using that extra sci BOFF for extra hull and shield heals, along with photonic officer II. I could trim it down, but I was thinking that since I have…
  • Using some advice in this thread, and some off the shelf gear, I have managed to sap Cubes and Apex battleships to zero shields with TR3 no problem. Even a nice multi-drain on some probes, dropping 3 ships shields to nothing. Of course, the limitations of the Orb Weaver become apparent now. In order to run TR3, I have to…
  • Interesting, although I'm pretty far from utilizing MK14 gear at the moment. I'm on the cusp of getting quantum manipulation, actually. I look forward to slapping +100 to sci skills for a few seconds. I might need to run some plain tests of TR3 by itself and see how many ticks it takes with my current gear to shut down…
  • An interesting build. I am intrigued by being able to eventually drain the dreadnoughts in Borg Disconnected. I thought as much. It also appears that simple numbers are not telling me everything I need to know here. Clearly, there is no magic number of drain that means everything is dead in space. Yeah, one of the reasons…
  • The USS Vampiris Sanguinis might be reporting for duty later. :D Okay, now you've lost me. The tooltips for TR1 show a power drain of 7.7 to all power levels per second versus ES3 having 57.3 power drain. Are you telling me that Tyken's Rift increases its power drain by 7.7 every second? As in it drains 77 power at 10…
  • An excellent point. I might need to rethink this a bit. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me about this stuff. :)
  • It might be easier to just stack plain-jane shield consoles, then. What I'm envisioning is a partial drain build that uses high power levels from ES3 and an additional ES2 (cycling the two back and forth so that 2/3 of the time I'm operating on extra power even with duplicate skill cooldown) to keep shield power levels…
  • Yeah, the bio-neural gel pack is already in the mix. I didn't know about particle field exciters, though. I've recently returned to the game after a 15 month absence, so I'm still catching up on crafting and whatnot. I may have to look into them if I have dilithium to burn. :)
  • Okay, that makes sense. I'm considering a build with a Tholian Orb Weaver, the Reman Prototype shield, and then stacking ShHP Voth consoles to get my shield values much higher. The Reman Prototype shield should provide plenty of base value for these calculations. I'm hoping to get past 20k shields just by using "off the…
  • So, if you can reliably stack power drains on a target that total 50 or more, you should be able to drop shields completely (assuming no engineering BOFFs at work) on mobs. For some reason, I thought it was higher. I might need to reexamine my flow capacitors setup. I might be able to get 50 without polaron weapons.
  • But how much power are mobs running on shields these days? How much do you have to drain from shields to shut them off?
  • Do you think the tetryon proc is worthwhile? And do you stack tetryons with any science abilities? I hear that Tachyon beam is TRIBBLE as a skill, but if there's a shield stripping method that works as a science ship, I'm all ears.
  • Thanks for the input, folks. I didn't even think about leech console. That's a damn good idea, and they aren't that expensive on the exchange. And it turns out I have a blue gravimetric scientish hanging around my ship, so now he's doing something useful with his time. The multiple GWs make a difference. I am wondering if…
  • Aha, see, I did not know that. I thought that the mine BOFF skills worked better with mine types that dropped more mines. So, I figured the tricobalt would be a no-go. Just out of curiosity, why not put 2 tricobalt mines on the rear? Why the Hargh'peng aft?
  • Why do you recommend tricobalt mines over other types? Do they work well with dispersal pattern beta? Do you get caught in the explosions?
  • Since we're talking about the B'rel, I have some torpedo questions. Right now, I'm running a Hargh'peng MK XI, Quantum MK XI purple (no MK XIIs for sale this week, it seems), 2 Tri-cobalt MK XIIs on the front, and 2 Breen Cluster Launchers on the rear. I like the setup with my BOFFs because I've doubled up on torpedo…
  • Sorry, I meant to post this in the other subforum. What a terrible way to do my first post. Anyway, thanks for the information. I shouldn't be trusting my eyes so much when I see torpedo launches, it looks like. :)
