This bug has made it through to the Live Server (holodeck). If you started on the R&D school you will unlock the trait for that school early. I have level 14 on most of my characters and I see the trait available in my traits list. Not complaining this is one of the good bugs that we want. Don't fix it!!! LoL

One way to resolve that issue is to set a timer on that spot. At least 10 seconds on that spot. The leavers or AFkers won't be coming back so that spot would be free after 10 seconds so that other players can join. I have disconnected so many times during the boss stage and lose my spot. I just got enough pearls on one of my captains and I have no option but to cancel the project on my other 3 alts. So the hard work from last year (800 pearls) goes down the drain. I slotted the pearls last year because I was planning on completing it but something came up so I wasn't able too.

Yes the same thing happens to me every time that I enter Memory Alpha. I sent the crash report thing that pops up when the game crashes, hopefully they fix this soon. It's pretty annoying. Yea I was wondering what happened. I thought I got disconnected. An in-game notice would have been nice. I wasted couple seconds trying to log back in lol.
