What sort of weapons are we going to use? Are we sticking to the Issue-S (for the energy weapon anyway) or is it load up with whatever anyone wants to equip?

I appologize ahead of time for double posting.

For next week's TFBB on April 3, we'll be having Shuttlecraft Sunday if enough folks are interested in shuttle PvP.

Bring your shuttle and let's have a blast!

What rank are we gonna play at?

Probably VA/LG and team accordingly if we have lower levels. I don't mind switching to one of my lower leveld characters compensate if the levels are off.

Definitely was fun! I'd be up for that more often if there are more Shuttle PvP events. 2 rounds were a lot of fun. Next time, I've got a few other things to try and make my shuttle a little deadlier. Thanks to everyone who came out! [=

Hella fun! can't wait to do it again. Shuttle PvP happens very fast. It's almost the purity of tier one PvP but with your VA. Matches take less than fifteen minutes.

Biggest problem is Fleet Support and Photonic Fleet spawning full sized ships that blow us to smithereens. No both do not spawn little shuttles but full sized ships.

I tested Photonic fleet during the second match and it spawned holo-shuttles. Didn't see any full fledged ships though

I think photonic fleet is okay. I've called in shuttles several times with it. Archee called in a vor'cha with his support fleet, though. I remember running away from it thinking it would forget I was on its team.

Any suggestions for what we can do next week?

    Shuttles?
    Private Rounds?
Team and Go into PvP queues?
    War Zones?

    Suggestions?

Team and go into PvP queues? 10F vs PUGs and the ocassional Team could be fun and it would keep us from getting complacent. We should do that soon. I also like the idea of tryin K'rrat. Both of these activities would help us get Emblems... :D

Team PvP sounds good. I'll bring the (now dreaded by Piwright) Will Riker out.

Well I've got news for you....I'm going on a BO shopping spree tonight....:D

    Will's at Cmd 9, edging 10. I can't remember much of last night. Though he's definately a good 9.

    I look forward to it.

I anticipate it as well. As long as this is only a good friendly rivalry that can make us both stronger as players. I refuse to sour a good in game friendship over anything as paltry as braggin rights. :)

    Screenshots
    Emerging from Transwarp
    On run from Piwright!
    Results

    High Points
    • Using "Ramming speed" and killing myself....twice!
    • Me running form Piwright when he would have killed me a second time
    Analysis
    • Piwright deals more damage per weapon than Will.
    • Will is, atm, extremely good in PvE, but not PvP
    • Torpedos and consoles need upgrading or swapping to higher tier equivelents
    • Alternative weapons or consoles need to be sourced to improve spacial abilities or ability effects
    • Torkas is a very good Science officer, but lacks buffs. However, the Reman BO is currently only Lt but is a very good all rounder, so he may need skilling & promotion to Cmd to enable straight swapping with Torkas
    • the 3rd Science officer is only good when teamed.

I tired to say it during the PvP. Levels within a rank count. I am certain when you get Will to the same level as Baloo, if you do not trounce me, it will be a very close match. You achieved good position many times and got through my shields more than once. Each time you got through my shields you got my hull down at least 25%. Once you got me down to 61% hull. That is far better than I did against Zachary and Zach and I were both on VA toons.

    To touch on your points...

1> Pi is a higher level and has specced more skill points into his weapons. Pi also uses a escort style cannon layout for his weapons that allows him to streamline his weapon skill points more efficiently.

2> PvE is fun but a poor metric for PvP performance even if you play on advanced and elite difficulty. While playing on advanced and elite diff will get you faster about damage mitigation, it does little to prepare you for how unpredictable a human opponent can be.

3> When the going gets tough the tough go shopping. Look into crafting or in the very least PUG actual PvP matches whenever possible to get those PvP marks. PvP gear is often better than explore gear.

4> Gear is not everything, you the player are. Better gear only helps it does not decide the out come. For this reason I will be doing everything I can to find faster ways to get off the abilities I do have so I can offer a better challenge to Zachary next time we PvP.

5> As a hybrid, Tac in a SV, you are at a disadvantage as only another science player can redily train the best skills for your top BO station(s). Fortunately there are others, like me, who do play science and are willing to train that BO for you. Till then keep your eye out for purple BO's with the skills you want and remember even if you do not commission them they can train one of your commissioned BOs in one of their skills. This trick has helped Bird quite a bit. I really wish I would have picked Bird, as I intended, for that match with Zachary. I need to make Irion and Bird look much more different from each other.

I am happy to read in your analysis that you are not discouraged and seem to be plotting for the next match up. I look forward to the event. As always if I can help ask. If there is a skill you want trained let me know and I will guide Baloo in that direction for you. But that means I may ask you to train one of Bird's BO when the time comes. Got to love the quid quo pro, bro. :)

What is the TFBB event for tomorrow? If you're not going to be there. Who is the person running it?

TFBB turned out to only be Dawson and myself. Still great fun was had and a mutual double kill ended the match. I have to admit that Dawson's greatest trait as a PvPer is his ability to adapt. After a bad start Dawson was able to reconfigure his Intrepid, in particular his BOs, to the point that he achieved a literal standstill.

I cannot say how long that last engagement was but I was able to use APA more than three times so it had to be at least six minutes. If I, (as a tac in a Defiant), was the hurricane, Dawson, (as a tac in an Intrepid), was the surf that pounds the rock of a cliff into sand. He was about as hard to hit as water as well because he forced me to rely on my turrets by dancing out of the cone of death my forawrd cannons represent for considerable periods of time.

He has also grown into quite the tug boat as he forced me on multiple occasions to wait out his tractor because both my Attack Pattern Omega and Polarize Hull were on cooldown. He was able to render my engine trick nigh near useless before the half way point of the match, (I would love to have seen his power settings, I would not be surprised to find that he nearly maxed his Aux).

His timing between Gravity Well and tractors is to be commended as he continues to imporve his co-ordination with them. He even had the presence of mind to load up Tractor Beam Repulsors and use it to force me out of optimal distance for my cannons in that last match. In a very real sense he did Zero proud.

I am both happy and dismayed that he will out grow me soon and I hope when he does that he will take time to teach me. With tenacity and flexibility like Dawson's Ten Forward could one day earn a respectable reputation in the PvP community.

Dawson has been bitten by the PvP bug which was underscored when he took time toward of the beginning of the match to ask if I had signed onto the Organized PvP channel. Personally I like where this is all headed. We will grow the most when we organize by defining our roles in a team and get out there and get truly thrashed by more experienced pre-made PvP teams.

Anywho wall of fancy talk text asside I had Panamon Creel, (the toon I fought Dawson's Will Riker with), comemorate this last event with a golden Intrepid on the wall of his Defiant's lounge out of respect for Dawson's growth, and the mutual kill we got on each other was truly epic and needs to be remembered.

I thought that was Zack who asked that.

How rude of me, Hortius Rex. I apologize for my over sight. You were there. Now that you have jogged my memory I recall that you even asked if you were too late for PvP.

You could be right about that. Dawson did a good job at keeping me busy so chat almost seemed to not exist. All I know is that I turned off OPvP a long time ago when I realized I needed a team to participate. What I do know is that OPvP will allow us to communicate with most pre-mades outside of arena and CH play so that we can get advice and analysis to reduce our learning curve when and if we decide to organize a team or two.

It's kind of a theme playing on the classic stereotype of the knuckle dragging bouncer, although in eight compressed years I never used my knuckles. That and long armed/short legged toons look freaking hilarious when they run. Then again apes are among my favorite animals. I wish they would use more ape like upper body animations when body proportion of toons get about like Plug's, Baloo's, and Pan's.
