When everyone thinks this, including someone who's never seen the design until just now... my advice is to take the hint gracefully, drop it in the trash, and never speak of it again.
If "everyone" thought it, then "everyone" would have said that. In reality, the number of people who have said that are very few compared to the number of people comentng on threads with pics of that ship.

But if people want it, shouldn't it automatically be in game?

Everyone did say it! Didn't you get the memo? I got the memo. It was a nice memo. You should talk to the memo department about that.
If there really is demand for an STO equivalent of the Perky Pug, butt-dragging and all, I guess I will just have to put up with it. You asked for opinions and that is mine. I'm now washing my hands (thoroughly) of this thread.
If it was up to me I would get rid of all the Luna variants, the star cruisers, the fleet escorts, the Nova varients.
Thank god I'm not in charge of ship selection right?:p
Still I can live with them because you know what, I like choices. I like the right for the player to decide what ship they want to fly. No matter how freaking ugly they are to me:D
I like the perpetual ships and would be nice to see some added at tier 6. unlike some other people I don't restrict my idea of a "starfleet ship" to something that is basically just a connie with different dimensions
One things these ships would have done was take the heat off of upgradeable ships. We would move into new designs for whatever reasons( new better warp fields/improved shield strengths). It would allow us to be wheaned off the traditional designs and added some much needed diversity.
This of course may not actually fix the "i want my Connie" but at least we would have had reasons to not go the whole" shipyard thought it would be cool" route.
The Tahoe would look good if it didn't have all those panels and grooves and armor plates. It should look like a Federation ship, not a Klingon ship.
This is the one thing I wish fed ships would inherit, why should klingons be the only ones with high armoured looks, not everyone who loves battle ready looking ships likes Klingons you know... It's like most star trek fans are too scared to go for a different style...if it doesnt look like a spoon with engines attached to it, its not a federation ship...well scrap all that bring on the crazy designs...move on people, this is a time of war and the federation needs more non user friendly looking ships lurking about. Ahhh that was good, got that rant out of my system LOL.
I would say yes to the Tahoe and the Ramjet (needs reclassification thought) and possibly the Nelson. Everytime I look at that Excalibur, all I can see is a dog dragging its rear end on the ground.
Just in case nobody else caught it Unknown cruiser 2 is a battle damaged Galaxy X. you can see the phaser lance and the third nacell pylon on the thing. It's already in the game.

Sometimes I am not sure the grand nagus understands concepts like exaggeration or humor.
I didn't think of the dog image first. But I immediately thought the ship look wrong. Though I was more thinking that someone must have cut off something of the ship or so as it feels incomplete and unbalanced. But the dog comparision seemed very apt when I heard it.
Naturally, I'd oppose to inclusion of the Excalibur. The Tahoe should be in though.

And I would oppose to the tahoe. Okay only because you said the same about the excalibur.
Even if you don't like it, you don't have to fly in it.

I am also fine with no Tahoe.
Adding these ships to the game is not "free". It requires time by the artists (or THE artist, as CapnLogan is currently doing the ships alone) and the software devs. Such threads can hint at where the priorities should be set, or if anything should be undertaken at all.
In the end, any new ship is a choice based on aesthetics. The stats are negotiable and have to conform to Cryptic's to mechanical and related game balance concerns. If enough people like something, it can be a sensible endeavour to add it. If enough people express dislike, it hints to the opposite. If there is a lot of disagreement about a particular ship... Well, that's the type of reason executive producers and other decision makers get paid the big bucks.
At the very least a number would look really good as Terran Empire ships...
I like the idea, Cryptic could release them as a "Mirror universe Ship pack" and make a pile of money.
I have said it maybe once or twice but i would LOVE to have Excalibur's ship parts available at the ship tailor for Starfleet Cruisers.
Maybe as additional Assault Cruiser parts or exploration Cruiser Retrofit, even T5 Excelsior Retrofit optional parts would be great. Especially the T5 Excelsior desperatly needs some additional Ship parts.
Well.. I dont *love* the designs, but rather these than the Devs working on a T5 copy of the TOS ships.. Why anyone wants a ship that looks like two dinner plates slabbed together, is beyond me... TOS design is almost as bad as Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers..
I love the excalibur class design. I would love to see all of these ships make it in the game. Even if you don't like them, they still give you more options, if you don't like them don't use them.
I can only speak for myself but i think that there are some good Starship design ideas (not only here but in general) but most designers just do too much, like adding holes or Armor plates just unnecessary details, therefore some ships don't look like Starfleet ships anymore IMHO.
Thank you for reading.
I really liked the bridge. All the ships are fine to me and I do expect to see ships designs to deviate from the series. Remember when you and new cultures into Star Fleet then new designs will emerge.
For the escort, the only one that looked even half decent really was the Sakegewea class, though I'm concerned that it's a bit too small... the model would need to be bumped up about 5 times in size (the concept art shows it as a 25 meter ship, even the nova is over 150 meters long). I like the moving warp nacelles concept on it, like the intrepid has. http://s1190.photobucket.com/albums/z456/Forresto44/?action=view¤t=STOconcept6.jpg

There seems to be a lot for support from it

The fact that someone posted a thread asking for it disproves the claim that "everyone" feels the same

Yes I agree the Tahoe is awsome..looks deadly for a fed ship.
That one is a must have.

Great designs we so need them in game!

The Excalibur class always reminded me of this.
We'd get better results from having more ship design contests.
The Sacajawea and the Nelson are very nice-looking escorts.
Perpetual f'ed up the cruisers though: putting holes in saucers and shorter, stouter hulls.
I would pay to have it not in-game.
J/K - "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations" or whatever other justifications exist for pants being worn as hats.
For the cruiser, add the Excalibur, it's an awesome looking ship with that formidable 'arch' to it, makes it look kind of like a bulldog or something.

For the science ship, use the Tahoe model. It was listed as a cruiser, but it very closely resembles the intrepid's design and flow.
