What would you like to see added to STO in 2011?

    The main thing I want to see is more useful stuff on my ship, since when I"m on my ship it feels like "Star Trek" the most. I want to travel to locations on the bridge and have to go around the ship to do stuff, like replicating items, fixing my ship, healing my crew, etc.

    IMO STO has come a long way from day one, and it can only get better, but it does need more content, and the other factions. I hope these two items get in before the fall of this year. lol One can only hope.

    Systems level features, not just missions.

    If you want to see factions with unique and rewarding gameplay experiences, a small team needs to focus on system rather than just episodic content.
    • Deepspace Exploration with integrated:
      • Territory Control
      • Deeper crafting / trading
      • Politics and intelligence systems
    • Foundry improvements
    These could make the game feel phenomenally deeper without necessarily making the game extremely complex or cumbersome.

    The above mentioned features are either in development or in high-level design stages. Hopefully, sooner than later because they'd really push the envelope from what we'd expect from the game.

    I'd like to see some additional Borg parts/attachments for Borg Captains and BOs. I realize there are several attachments for the face, but none for arms, except the 7 of 9 hand for females.

    A finished Klingon faction before anything else.
    More stable game play.
    Less time spent on C-store TRIBBLE and more time spent on Stability.
    Improved STF

    I would like to see...

    - More stable game play. (no more Texture3.hogg errors after each new patch)
    - More content for both klingon and federation. (Foundry, maybe?)
    - More human face types. (More Face Types in General, everyone looks somehow akin to each other)
    - More customizable uniforms, like sleeve rank insignia for every uniform.
    - More customization options for Ships. (more ship parts generally good looking ones, for a change)
    - More FA's no more STF's.
    - A more balanced PvP where casual players stand a chance against pre build teams. (maybe something like random teaming in PvP maps.)
    - Ship Interior functionality.
    - lower ceilings.
    - Shuttle bays.
    - Open PvP zones where victory and defeat actually give bonuses (or not). Like Empire wide exp bonus for holding a certain amout of objectives.
    - REAL EXPLORATION.
    - no more shoebox sectors.

    Well thats what crosses my mind right now. Maybe i'll add something more later. :)

    My wish list:

    1) Spreading out high end merchant functions. ESD takes too long to load and with the timeout I find myself constantly logging out/logging in.
    2) Release weeklies at night on a weekday.
    3) More hardware to handle demand.
    4) Duty Roster!
    5) Some Xindi/Suliban story.
    6) Explorable Earth.

    Cardassians.

    In the latest episode there is talk of some joining the Federation and some in negotations with the Romulans so either of these would be good options.

    Intergrating Green, Yellow and Red alert when dealing with first contact
    Green being shields down weapons offline
    Yellow shields up no weapons systems
    Red Full alert (duh heh)

    Ok so you are encountering an unknown race if you act hostile (go weapons hot) they will take note and be much less likely to listen. Which alert should you choose? depends on their status which would be random, never know if theyre gonna start shooting, or be peaceful. This doesnt mean there needs to be a new game mechanic involving alert status, just mission specific(dialogue choices perhaps).
    Sometimes they respond to hails, diplomacy ensues.
    Sometimes they respond then you say the wrong thing & they get offended lol.
    Sometimes they start communication as a trap!!
    Other races wont have respect you unless you fight a little, and after a few rounds of duking it out they decide youre worth talking to.

    Perhaps they board you while youre having what appeared to be a friendly conversation(under green alert). Then you have to repel boarders (ground combat on your ship)!!!

    I welcome any ideas!!! sounds like it could be fun to me!

    Here's mine:

    -Playble Horta:p

    -Being able to name your captain's specie's name if your an alien.

    -launching shuttles not only from your but being able to go to YOUR shuttlebay and see a cinematic of you launching off.

    -Being able to make your captain's homeworld if he's unknown.

    -Being able to switch off to your FO when your captain is either on shore leave or when he's doing other things.

    -Having either customizable Ship interiors or just seeing the current ones expanded and more rooms added.

    -Seeing the Romulan faction launched (this is a pipe dream) or seeing it being developed before year's end

    -Seeing more ships.

    -seeing more to scale ship interiors

    My wish list for new content...

    - Replace the loading screens for sectors with a prerendered scene of your ship traveling from one side of the screen to the other at warp speed.

    - More Customization. I would live the ability to redecorate my ships ready room and other areas. Maybe have this similar to the bridge packs, and include the different themed interiors with those. Also, the ability to set a standard uniform for my ships crew.

    - Hair for my Caitian, please.

    - Keep up with remastering the old missions to bring them up to par with the newest ones.

    - Do whatever is necessary to keep whoever wrote Mine Enemy on the payroll, and have him or her do more. Seriously, that mission felt all the world like an episode of the series.

    - Ambient wildlife for exploration planets. Even if it's just birds off in the sky.

    - Functionality to Risa. Maybe add in some minigames to play, maybe a diplomatic mission to take care of. Most important, however, would be beach clothing for our characters. A Dabo table perhaps in a small casino area.

    - Medals and Awards for uniforms. While only really seen in TOS, it would be nice to be able to make a dress uniform with medals and awards for certain achievements.

    Couple of immersion suggestions.

    1-Romulan NPC ships start out cloaked. Give the actor(your term)a bigger patrol range and aggro radius. Other races that use cloaking devices are more then welcome to join in.

    2-Named, rare, NPC starships and captain(ground)encounters. Science ship xxxoooxxx over and over and over gets so stale. just once I would love to have a message screen pop up and have a captain with a name tell me how his ship, also named, is going to tractor beam my broken hull around as a trophy!

    Couple PvP suggestions.

    1-Did you get a look at that new Space Dock over Earth!!!??? Its beautiful work, so why not put it to more use and make a PvP location based on it (interior and exterior). Why not go further and ramp up the maximum number of players able to enter at one time. Can your sever handle 50 feds vs 50 klingons?

    2-Sector space engagements, like the Deferi Patrols, only players flag themselves as Hostile, meaning other flagged players can engage them like hailing the deferi patrol. Is it possible?

    Ground Combat suggestion.

    1 and only 1-speed it up, by a lot. A hit with a phasor pistol would vaporize a Terminator, so why am I shooting this Cardassian in the face, point blank, for 20+ shots?

    Starfleet academy on Earth, IE, u can beam down...

    maybe some design / stimulus could come from how SFA is portrayed in "Star Trek Elite Force 2", and the ST VOY episode "In the Flesh"

    Make it a place, where you can recruit new bridge officer, hang out at a bar similar to club 47 on ESD....

    Have a holodeck, maybe a shooting range that lets ur try out all the different weapons, so u can make an informed choice when picking ur weapon of choice....

    A library perhaps....where u can learn about federation histroy and culture.......review missions for study, from the TV series....

    In a dream world I would love to see multiple factions something like Birth of the Federation where you can play Romulan or Carassians or Dominon each with their unique feel and look.

    Coupled with this would be open system PvP where there are border or neutral zones that are up for the taking. Rather than maps generated for mini games there would be persistent maps in this zone that are able to be taken by the different faction. With a PvE presence for which ever faction took it last these would be pvp zones but with pve objective to turn them to your faction.

    Along with this would be diplomatic functions where different factions could ally to take back a planet or for a set period of time etc. People that had made admiral (or whatever rank) would be given a vote on if a diplomatic mission should be sent and if it is then those of the recieving faction (admiral rank or whatever) would be able to vote on if they will accept it. This can be fleshed out a lot more.

    I think if this sort of end game could be established it would go a long way to adding to the longevity of the game but it would only work with multiple factions and you could only have one alliance at a time.

    1. Shuttle Bays - Accessible through our ship interiors, and used to select shuttles to pilot.

    2. More Mini Games - Lots more. Srsly. Dabo's cool, the Data Scanning game is cool, but there should be a lot more than we already have.

    3. Full "Docking Procedures" - Go inside ESD or approach DS9, and have the option of going through the full monotonous docking procedures. Hate to say it, but this could relate very closely to #2 (see above).

    4. Cluster/Foundry/Deep Space Interaction - Alright, far-fetched, I know, but bare with me... you know how you can go inside a Star Cluster and go out the other side, and you're back in the Sector Block you came from? Well, what if we had the ability in the Foundry to create full Sector Blocks like the Deferi one? A place where we place the planets, put together our own storylines from the missions we've created, create our own races, etc.-- and then-- get this-- those Player Made Sector Blocks loaded up at random, beyond the Star Clusters? Not only would it promote UGC, it would help with that nasty "limited space" issue. Not to mention, hey, exploration. With the Player Made Sector Blocks loading up at random each time, you never really know what you're going to find.

    5. Admiral and Fleet Admiral ranks - Definitely.

    6. Crew "Positions" - I want to set my First Officer, Head of Security, Chief Engineer, Counselor, Chief Medical Officer, and so on.

    7. Crew "Conversion" - I want to convert members of my crew into playable Captains, or (and this would be better in my opinion) let them have one of my currently unused ships to fly around with me as an NPC and aid in battles and whatnot. Or better yet... why not both? If I convert one of my crewmembers into a playable character/captain, it would be nice (if they're of the same faction) to call on my other character for NPC assistance. Nothing special, just "Fleet Support" with my other character's ships appearing, instead of something at random.

    8. More Trophies, Hidden Accolades/Rewards - Sorry, I want to show off. I want people to see me, my ship, my uniform, my ship interior, and say "Whoa, TRIBBLE, how did you get that? That was a special item that I can't get at all, or until a certain event rolls around again?" Give me things to show off.

    9. More Combadge Options - Srsly. Insignia on the combadges, different styles, maybe a combadge creator within the Tailor? More uniqueness, please.

    10. Crew Customization - I want to give everyone on my ship the same uniform. :P Old complaint, I know.

    11. More Fleet Administration Control - How about giving us the ability to set prerequisites for fleet members to get promoted through the fleet ranks? How about removing how many New Events the owner of a Fleet can add? :) Plz?

    12. Fleet Emblem Improvements - The patches are nice. The metallic shields are nice. Can we get a few more options, though? Also, can we have like just ONE more layer of emblem designs to play with? It would make a world of difference, I promise.

    13. MOAR SHIPS - "Connie" Dreadnought. Ptolemy. Jester. Ambassador. Raven. Scout. Sydney. Daedalus. Saladin. All of these are Federation ship classes that I want to see. And since we're delving into shuttles, how about the Work Bee? What about the Type-1 through Type-19 shuttles? Ooo, what about Escape Pods? What about mass-producing the Jellyfish that Geordi designed? And on one final note, how about civilian ships for the people who don't want to RP that they're part of the Federation? Freighters, Yachts, Personal Transports, etc.

    14. Fleet Starbases - I want the ESD design for my fleet, darnit. :)

    15. More Appearances - I can only assume that there's an upcoming story featuring the Enterprise, if Cryptic is being given the opportunity to design a new one. That being said, I've kind of been disappointed that I've only run across a few HUGE names from the series. I'd love to come across Ambassador Picard, or Geordi, or even Captain Beverly Picard. Maybe when the Enterprise-F is built, it can make random appearances throughout the game? Maybe give special quests/awards? I don't want this to be all about the Enterprise, by far, but knowing that I'm in the same realm as some of these characters would really improve my immersion.

    16. More Holiday Content - The Anniversary Event was excellent, despite the Fountain craziness. But there's a ton of holidays that are central to Star Trek. The Bajoran Gratitude Festival, First Contact Day, Federation Day, Vulcan Holidays, Klingon Holidays, and so on. Let's have some kind of in-game celebration for these, with small quests/rewards. Again, I re-iterate, "immersion."

    17. Underwear/Swimsuits - Yes, really. I feel kind of silly going and hanging around the beaches of Risa and being stuck in an outfit that covers my entire body, when everyone else there is so bare.

    18. Planet Surface Revamp - Not that I'm complaining... Vulcan and Risa and Andoria are beautifully done. I love being able to run around and explore. But I was disappointed to not find a secret quest-giver, or secret vendor, or get some kind of cool exploration accolade for my curiosity.

    Just saying.

    - More ship interiors such as canon bridges, holodeck, proper sickbay. Things to do onboard your ship, interacting with crewmembers, use replicators, captains quarters where you could voice record your captains logg, shower, rest etc. Briefing room where you assemble yout senior staff. Great way to introduce a mission when using the foundry. More customisation options for interiors.
    - Expanded foundry features to allow the creation of missions onboard our own ships.
    - Ability to have romances/family
    - Territory control (Would be a blast to actually feel like we are at war!)
    - Epic events (The galaxy doesnt change. No invasions, catastrophies, shifting alliances, plagues etc)

    In general, my opinion is that the game is still to combat focused, even though I acknowledge that it has improves significantly over the last year! Needs more roleplay and immersion.

    Things I feel can wait:

    - New faction (Finish the ones in game first before spending valuable development time on making another one)
    - Fleet elements (Many players arent members of fleets nor have any interest in becoming so)
    - More uniforms and ships (We have an arsenal to chose between. Shouldnt new game mechanics be a priority?)

    Everything promised by Jack Emmert when he announced STO at the Vegas ST convention back in '08 - none of which exists in the current STO.

    So, basically, a completely different game from the ground up.
