Wow, CBS is speaking very loudly with this action! Maybe we will get some content in this game, plus no $15 a month, just a C-Store.

How could CBS betray their loyalty to Cryptic like this?

Does this mean STO is shutting down?

How can they now make a F2P MMO after backing Cryptic's model?

Will the castaways ever get off the island?

I think you have it backwards...CBS IS the licence holder...they owe cryptic nothing, they sold them a
license to make the game...thats it. Not the right to control what CBS does with thier IP.
CBS can sell the license to everyone if they wish...or even give it away free if they wanted.

It is thier choice alone...the true value of OWNING...you get to do ANYTHING you like with it.

one thing that makes me sad is the fact that... it has a clone wars kind of look to it. I'm watching this video right now and i keep on getting the feeling that they are going for the clone wars look. ( the armor looks like clone armor, and as far as I can remember the only thing close to that in KOTOR was the sith armor... and these guys are playing the good guys. ) kind of a let down.

    Agreed.... a complete bummer.

I'm not too worried about this.
    1) It's a browser game, so it fits in a completely different market.
    2) It's about TOS, not about TNG and further. Though cool I prefer the new stuff.
    3) STO is going well so far and I really like this game. ;)

Gosh, just like exclusives wouldn't be on the C-Store anytime soon?

Or did you mean 'isn't going anywhere' as in is going nowhere?

Considering they didn't say they would never be on the c-store and never said soon(tm) then you don't have anything to worry about.

    Ya I know.

There are already flash browser games of Star Trek out there already... Unofficial of course but that still didn't stop them from being made.

Oh well, I guess we need something new to panic over this weekend. :D

I know, I just added that extra bit on.

    :)

Still... we need something new to panic about, then all the recent panic will die down and focus on the new stuff. ;)

Where does it say MMO, it says Social Networking game, and it'll be a browser based game at that. I'm imagining something similar to whats on Facebook at the moment called Fleet Commander (I think) which was fun, but that's the limit. It will be no threat to Cryptic's MMO.

    Hey, I play Starfleet Commander.

I've just started level 8 research on Warp Drive. I'm gonna research me a Zeus. :D

Silly - I'd hardly called 5 months "soon."

that sums up this thread nicely.

It'll be no competitor to STO.

And here's a suggestion: try Starfleet commander. You don't even need to pay anything. And there's no adverts. Yes. NO ADVERTS. link.

So although you can play it on Facebook and seperately (though you should use Facebook apps first to do this) you can play it seperately on it's own.

Nothing twisting about it. We have a post from a Cryptic employee that says they wouldn't put the MU uniforms on the C-Store. Time passed, and they changed their minds, and there we are.

Boo hoo. Move along to the next crisis of the week already.

i disagree, and for everyones information there are 2 star trek games being made one is for facebook. the other is a browser game both are free to play. i do think that the browser free to play might be fun to play, not as good as sto but in any case i do think that cryptic could pick up ideas off of there content.

Thats what I am saying like Eve, the good stuff from SWG and so on!!!
