The Stewart Clan is Lowland Scots, and are related to the Celts that got pushed out of South and West England during the Anglo-Saxon invasions, settling in NW France, called Brittany. They acquired lands in South Scotland after the Norman invasion of England in 1066, to act as a buffer between the Normans and the Highland Scots. The Stewart Clan came over with the ascension of King David I of Scotland.)
