    did I mention I am a Republican ?

    I quit high school too.
But then I got my GED, went to community college to remediate.
Then got my bachelors in Electronics Engineering and now im in R&D for medical devices.
My dad, who was not so accepting came back to me and said I was wrong.
I said yep I'd say so.

i should mention I don't mean to label myself.
But I was trying to find others in the forum and it was meant more joking to throw
"trekker" in front of it. But if it offends then I'll take note of that and just say TRIBBLE.
But the whole attempt was to find other players who are TRIBBLE to join the fleet.
I suppose i could have worded it better.

Yeah and I bet your bro is like I am.
None of the portrayed stereo types. Alot of TRIBBLE people out there don't say they are and many people have no idea your sitting next to one. And they aren't in the closet they just don't fit the stereo type or "sound TRIBBLE".
i find it amusing. I had a guy at home depot mixing my paint up and everytime a chick walked by he said "damn check that out", I said "I did what your point". He kept talking and mentioned how TRIBBLE people are pansy when this one guy who appeared to be pretty feminine walked by. i said, careful, you never who is and who is not.
i said just because im sitting here with paint all over my shirt and look roughed up doesn't mean anything.
I said by the way the chick that just walked by wasn't that hot. in fact to me for me to imagine her naked makes me sick. And then I walked off.

    He had no clue....
    That's what you call ignorant.
So worried a TRIBBLE guy would hit on him. Clueless TRIBBLE he didn't even fit the shoe to get hit on by a TRIBBLE guy.
    it's not all about looks.
    Except, Chris Pine.

Funny the way stereo types work. You will find many pedophiles and fans of snuff videos of children in high ranking poltical circles and financial cartels. Positions of power.

I am the proud Godparent of a young man who is TRIBBLE. I am inspired by his determination and I am greatfull that he is not a weak-minded quitter who chooses to give up on himself at the most important time of his life. He was harassed out of High School and quit, he sat there for years and I was angry at him, he told me "you just hate me because I am TRIBBLE" , I replied "no I am angry with you because you are being a quitter like your pathetic mother and your life has barely started". A few years later he is in Law School and now thanks me for not seeing him as a young TRIBBLE man, but as a young man. I told him "don't try to be the greatest TRIBBLE student, just be the greatest student, who you choose to fall in love with does not define who you are, it's the love people have for each other that makes them family".

In the whole Star Trek Universe people live without the needs of basic things like food so they are able to explore whatever it is their heart desires. One consistant thing across all the shows carrying the name Star Trek is that people are identified by the quality of their character. We all know that our beloved cast member George Takei is a TRIBBLE man, but he did not play "TRIBBLE Helmsman Sulu" he was simply Helmsman Sulu. In the future there is no need for labels, labels are meant for things, inanimate objects, or to identify the origin of a people (Human, Klingon, Bajorin, etc). This was Gene Roddenberry's vision to show the world without the boundries of race or any of our personal differences, and that is what people find so beautiful about the whole concept. So in keeping with the spirit of Star Trek it goes against the very foundation of it's creators vision to label yourself a "TRIBBLE Trekker". You are simply one of us, to us you are just another friend.

The above post is a person who actually knows a real TRIBBLE person. Notice how he talks about that TRIBBLE person, no mention of disco balls, pink or wearing womens clothing. Good post.

You on the other hand dont know as much about TRIBBLE people as you think. You talk about everyone viewing TRIBBLE people as stereotypes when your spewing stereotypes left and center yourself. And another thing a TRIBBLE man doesnt consistently refer to himself as a TRIBBLE man, man will do just fine.

Let me break it down for you there is only ONE difference between a TRIBBLE person and a non TRIBBLE person. The difference is that they are attracted to members of the same sex. That means no pink, no fluffy stuff and no dresses.

I think your trolling and im calling you out. Ive reported your original post.

When I first saw the post title, I was thinking that this was going to turn into a flame fest quickly - I am really impressed that I was wrong. A lot of good responses here.

I am not TRIBBLE, but we have 3-4 TRIBBLE people in our fleet, and 2 of them are my neighbors, and great friends of mine. My wife and I spend a lot of time over there, and other than the occasional good natured joke (we have been friends for years), I view them no differently than anyone else out there.

I applaud those who were able to post mature post in this thread, it shows a lot about the community.

Yes, Star Trek was extremely cowardly in this regard considering its... well, let's say its historical duty to push for positive social change.

But I guess you can blame the US TV networks more for their moral cowardice, and a culture that allows the issue of whether it's okay for people to make smoochies with whoever they damn well like to become a political one.

I don't think we can blame networks for being cowardly. Roseanne had openly TRIBBLE characters and explored gender issues. Other shows came later, like Will and Grace. Star Trek was just cowardly throughout its entire tng era TV run.

According to Star Trek, there are no TRIBBLE people in the future. Sure, there is some gender switiching, but it's always presented as a source of conflict. The one possible exception is the episode with Riker and the womwn who couldn't help being a woman, desptie the social rules of her planet. Even then, though, the issue was explored within the confines of safe heterosexual love.

This is the one area where I can't make excuses for Star Trek.

    It's a crying shame that STO can't be 'Don't ask don't tell'.

Why would anyone even think I would care if you're TRIBBLE, straight, or in between?

Cryptic will lock threads about the game it self but let a thread like this run. No wonder this game is dying so quickly.

Look in the Starbase One subforum - there's a post with a master list of fleets, including at least a couple of fleets for TRIBBLE/TRIBBLE-friendly players. Unfortunately the post hasn't been stickied so I can't find it now.

I agree. I thought for sure this was going to be one of the most flamed threads (no pun intended) on the forums.

Its nice to see that while people may have a frothing hate for aspects of this game, they can at least respect another persons right to be who they are.

Like i said earlier i think thats down more to the prejudices of the two idiots that were in charge of the franchise for so long, rather than the network interfering- in fact the presence of multiple homosexual characters in the novel series would imply that the network isnt particularly bothered one way or the other.

I dont buy that there are no TRIBBLE people in Star Trek however, even if they arent mentioned on screen. Homosexuality has existed as long has there have been humans, i doubt itll disappear by the 24th century.

Stereotypes are never a good thing. They lead to things like ethnic cleansing. I wish they had never been thought up because they have caused more bad than good.

However I do have a place in my heart for someonoe who is willing to take the **** out of himself. Tolerance is the only way were gonna go forward in these times.

Im honestly torn on the subject now. Im unsure as to the intentions of the OP but I am willing to admit this thread has been very mature about it. Let me tell you one thing though, the best way to deal with a TRIBBLE person is to do EXACTLY the same as you would if he was straight.

While the abundance of stereotypes being thrown around is something to wince at, there's nothing wrong with threads like these. I'm not a fan of this thread either, and I'm a homosexual, but I'm not about to report someone for starting a topic I personally disapprove of. Your attitude is offensive.

So you got offended that a post title that you didn't agree with had a post that you didn't agree with. It's not like his title was deceptive in any way. You knew what was going to be here before you even opened the thread. No one forced you to read his thread. As far as "sexual discussion" where are you seeing that? I don't see any references to sexual acts anywhere in the thread. Sexuality maybe, sex no.

Oh I remember that episode now!
Meaning where it was claimed no gender they didn't really come out and say she used to be a boy or girl etc.
That's right it was an attempt to bring diversity of the issue into the show.
But from my perspective that would be considered a failure.
There is a either TRIBBLE person on the show or isn't there not any twisting it be something else or trying.
But of all shows I clearly expected Star Trek to show this diversity and guess what?
    They never did.

And that my ftrekkiesI still find surprising.
I can't think of any episodes or movies for that matter where there is a TRIBBLE character.
Dax in this case doesn't count. It was a failed attempt at it and remember there was some backlash from the TRIBBLE community on this one stating it was a poor attempt.

    Does Sulu count? :D

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it!

However, this entire forum is based mostly on opinions and that is where we get to discuss all these great topics without having to hate on each other!

open-minded discussion can go a long way here.
