This thread is going to be dedicated to increasing knowledge of which Clusters/Nebulas are useful for farming specific Anomalies for Memory Alpha "Crafting".

This will be a work in progress and user contributions are greatly appreciated. For the purposes of uniformity and to see if a pattern can be worked out as to which Clusters/Nebulas offer the most Anomalies per time spent farming PLEASE KEEP ALL RECORDED FARM TIMES TO 30 MINUTES IN THE NEBULA/CLUSTER

Farming data sets will be entered in subsequent posts to allow for accurate reporting of data gathered in the OP.

Farming anomalies is tied into the Exploration Quests which go as such:-

1st Order- Delta Valonis or Arcanis Arm
2nd Order- Hromi Cluster or Khazon Cluster
3rd Order- Afehirr Nebula or Eridian Belt
4th Order- Rolar Nebula or Betreka Nebula
5th Order- Zenas Expanse

The order of sample Data is as follows:
Red
Aqua
Green
Blue
Yellow
Violet

There are 3 types of sample per colour "Tier" as follows:

Red - Tier 1 Anomalies

Radiation Sample
Mineral Sample
Alien Artefact

Aqua - Tier 2 Anomalies

Antimatter Sample
Biological Sample
Unknown Alloy

Green - Tier 3 Anomalies

Plasma Sample
Encoded Data
Tetryon Particle

Dark Blue - Tier 4 Anomalies

DNA Sequence
Methogenic Particle
Genetic Sequencer

Yellow - Tier 5 Anomalies

Tachyon Wave Signature
Exobiological Data
Photonic Technology

Purple - Tier 6 Anomalies

Chronometric Wave Signature
Unidentified Sample
Technical Schematic

    Delta Volanis Farming Sessions

    Awaiting Data

    Red - Tier 1 Anomalies

    Radiation Sample - 6 collected
    Mineral Sample - 7 collected
    Alien Artefact - 5 collected

    Aqua - Tier 2 Anomalies

    Antimatter Sample - 0 collected
    Biological Sample - 1 collected
    Unknown Alloy - 0 collected

    93% Chance for red
    7% Chance for Aqua

    Note about Delta Volanis -

The Delta Volanis, is not a prime spot for farming anomalies due to the fact that most sectors you explore are purely in space which accounts to 12 minutes of fighting and 1-3 anomalies. If you don't explore the sectors and just collect you can account to roughly 18 anomalies if there are about 2-4 other players out with you.

Number of Anomaly Spawn points -

There are 14 Delta Anomaly Spawn points half of which are sectors. so in farming terms 7 farming spawns.

    Competition For Anomaly Spawn Points

Competition i will show in how many people will be along with you and how often.

    1 Competetor - 100% of the time
    2 competetors - 82% of the time
    3 competetors - 68% of the time
    4 competetors - 46% of the time
    5 competetors - 24% of the time
    6 competetors - 13% of the time

    Grade for Farming.

B- This place just doesn't have enough spawn points for you to make alot of profit for crafting. yes you can make more anomalies if you farm here instead of doing the missions but you will not make alot more... roughly 3-4 times as much, which considering possible loot from missions you do... not a tremendous gain.

Just a quick heads up for those gathering data, today's patch (ST.0.20100208b.9) indicates that drop rates for rarer materials were too low, and have been increased.

So you'll have to restart your measuring.

I'm hoping this means more aquas in the Delta Volanis Cluster and similar-level anomalies.

I noticed that this only changed IN SYSTEM drops, not sector space drops.

My report for the farming potential of: Eridian Belt (take 2)

I had made a previous report before this thread started (parts of which were used in creating this thread) and a summary of that previous post is:

    I collected 42 samples in total. 18-Blue, 15 Green, and 9 Yellow.
You have about equal chance to get a Blue here as a green, and you get them twice as much as the yellow samples. I would be willing to bet this ratio would hold true (more or less excluding short term variance) in most situations.
    ---
For my second trip, I kept track of the exact types of each kind of sample, and I did this for roughly 30-35 min.

    Green- 27 Total
    Tetryon- 10
    Plasma- 7
    Encoded 10

    Blue- 18 Total
    Methogenic- 7
    DNA Seq- 3
    Genetic Seq- 8

    Yellow- 20 Total
    Tachyon Wave- 9
    Exobiological- 7
    Photonic- 4

I found myself having no trouble hitting alot of various systems, with a good find rate of anomolies vs systems. I did not keep track of the ratio, but at no point did I feel too crowded. It is possible the increase in yellow drops was effect by the most recent patch (as stated by the poster above)

    My personal thoughts:

This may be one of the best systems for farm samples for Tier 2 crafting for 2 reasons.
    1. Its relatively close to Memory Alpha. The trip back takes about 3-4 minutes if you avoid Sig Contacts.
    2. Tier 2 crafting requires primary Green and Blue items which drop here reguarly. The additional Yellows will only make your work easier once you get to tier3.

    Afehirr Nebula Farming Sessions

    30min Farming by Moose@Captain_Windle (Me)

    Aqua - Tier 2 Anomalies - 16 Collected
    Antimatter Sample x 5
    Biological Sample x 3
    Unknown Alloy x 8

    Green - Tier 3 Anomalies - 15 Collected
    Plasma Sample x 6
    Encoded Data x 6
    Tetryon Particle x 3

    Dark Blue - Tier 4 Anomalies - 15 Collected
    DNA Sequence x 5
    Methogenic Particle x 5
    Genetic Sequencer x 5

I can confirm that these numbers (after the patch) still seem to be correct. My 30 min session in the Afehirr Nebula produced the following results:
    Aqua- 18
    Antimatter- 5
    Biological- 7
    Unknown- 6

    Green- 26
    Tetryon- 8
    Plasma- 7
    Encoded- 11

    Blue- 20
    Methogenic- 10
    DNA- 2
    Genetic Seq- 8

This is a really good place for all Tier 2 samples needed. I would put this up there with the Eridian Belt as far as that goes.

Where those including the samples you found while doing the 3 missions or just while scanning anoms in sector space?

You would be surprised, if you just stay patient, you can get alot of anomaly readings in sector. It is the most efficient way to farm samples, and not even doing the missions if you do not want to.

Yup, just dont accept the missions when you get into the system (no enemy spawns) - rather than flying around the cluster getting one or two anomalies, you now get 2-3 with each scan. Plus, if you have a SSD you get basically nio loading screens = win and lots of profit :D

First Page updated with results, keep them coming!

TO CLARIFY - PLEASE ONLY RECORD FARMING SESSIONS WHERE ANOMALIES ARE EITHER GATHERED IN SECTOR SPACE OR BY ENTERING EXPLORATION SYSTEMS BUT NOT ACCEPTING MISSIONS (PLEASE NOTE RESULTS ACCORDINGLY)

RobMR3, you use anomalies at Memory Alpha in the Alpha Centauri sector. Please refer to ScouseSandwich' stickied post in the Academy forum for further help. However you can also stick them on the exchange if you so wish.

Don't forget that the 30m time is great but the speed at which people move will be different. take a ensign 1 vs RA 5. the RA will move faster thus getting more items in the alloted 30 minutes.
