Game freezing and going black screen when changing characters

Since the last maintenance when ever I change characters the game will freeze and the screen will go black forcing me to dashboard the game in order to change characters sometimes here is a link a video

    I've just seen this. I have had issues with other games that I've left on quick resume in the past couple of weeks. Perhaps it's that causing it, as quitting out of the game on the home screen will fix this.

    The 'half-loading' is normal when transferring maps. That's just it talking to the server at that time, and happens on all platforms.

    It is still happening on xbox after the July 10th patch. It was not listed in the known issues for the patch notes.
    I have nothing else running and it still occurs. There seems to be nothing that I have observed that prevents this or causes a consistent result of the crash. The only thing to do is quit and reload the game when it happens and then wait 3-5 minutes to reload. It also now takes 30sec- 1min more to load every map moving, so we miss the beginning of almost everything now.

    I am having the same issues on all Characters. I have upgraded my internet, talked to my wi-fi manufacturer. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Also, when doing TFOs, I am the last one there because it sticks on the beam out screen. Same thing as above on changing characters, the only work around I found is to logout and then I can change characters without locking up on the black screen.

    A couple of points to cover here.
    1. I've always found that the load screen for Earth orbit is always slow. Don't know why but it is. Now why other maps are loading slowly? No clue here.
    2. The black screen when switching characters isn't limited to Star Trek Online, Neverwinter has the same issue. We just had the summer event there and while switching alts to gather the daily event quest rewards I had times the game would lock up 3 or 4 times. (between nine characters one of each major class.) Made a forums post there about this very issue. Maybe it's something with their servers or a new bug introduced lately in both versions of the Xbox games.
