PS5 new manual camera settings not sticking

Ps5

After the update today the new manual camera zoom setting is not retaining its position.

Ground camera seems fine, maybe one time today was it out of position.

EVERY time I go to sector space the camera is zoomed out to max. You can try to adjust it. Sometimes a few seconds after you do, it will zoom out to max on its own. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes after you start moving it will zoom out on its own. Not a stick drift issue, verified. Regardless, of the distance you left the camera at, when you return to sector space from wherever, the camera will be zoomed all the way out again.

Almost every time I go to system space, the camera is zoomed all the way in. You can try to adjust it. Same as above applies. Going in and out of system space, sometimes it does remember the distance you left the camera at, sometimes it's zoomed all the way in again. Entering system space seems sporadic weither or not camera will remember the distance you left it at.

The cycle camera option still seems to work, going between 3 positions. It's seems like you can adjust each position manually, up and down on right stick, but the camera does not retain these settings in either sector or system space after update today. I understand we can manually adjust camera distance on right stick and we can still cycle preset distance by pressing "X" (on ps5) like it has been for years, but game is not keeping the settings as we transition between sector and system space.

In sector space the camera is always starts zoomed out to max, in system space the camera starts probably zoomed in to max.

After checking with as many as would constructively answer me in game and other places, it seems to be an issue on PS5. The majority of ps4 players said they had no such above issues, but I can't say for sure if it is exclusive to ps5. I am playing with framerate limit off, issue still happening either way.

While I deeply appreciate the manual camera zoom feature being added, there is a bug now happening where the camera will not remember the position the user set it at after they leave that "space" (sector or system).

Having to fiddle with the camera distance every time you enter sector space, or every time you enter system space, or start or come into the middle of an active TFO, is not even remotely a good thing.

I hope the devs address this new bug post haste.

I've been playing around with the new function, you have to manual adjust the zoom setting, it does seem to lock, however, here is the annoying part when you sort it out on 1 character on your account, and change to another and change it for that character, it seem to effect every camera zoom for every character on your account, so when switching you have to manually set each time you change characters, very very annoying. I expected better from Star Trek online.

On ps5, as stated above, the sector and system camera is not sticking, either between sessions, logins, reboots, whatever. Every time I go to sector space it's zoomed all the way out. Half of the time I go to system space it's zoomed all the way in.

I've found the new camera options allowing me to set my own custom zoom to be so very much better than just the three settings we had before - many thanks to the devs for that.

However, like those posting above and in the Xbox section, the setting just doesn't save.

When accessing the camera zoom settings, we have three controls:
    • 20px-PlayStation_button_X.svg.png?20151013192045 Cycle Camera Distance;
    • "Thumb Stick" to set a custom zoom; and
    • 20px-PlayStation_button_C.svg.png?20151013191831 Cancel.

Surely there should also be 20px-PlayStation_button_T.svg.png?20151013192009 to "Save" ... ?

im on ps5 and it it does not zoom out while in space but it is zoomed in on ship like im probing its tail it is so close and i have to manually zoom out and when i do that it goes out way way to far and looks like i am flying a frelling escort or a shuttle it looks so small it needs to be fixed with on/off option or a fixed camera angle or something while in space as ground camera is fine it is just the space camera that is messed up

Still an issue after the latest patch.

Yeah. I couldn't help but notice this bug still happening after patch today.

I know nothing about coding but I thought this would be on the easy side of a fix.

It'd sure be nice if this got some attention, or even acknowledgement.
Nowadays, I mostly log in with binoculars at hand just so I can see my ship - although yesterday my eyeballs were up the impulse exhaust!!

Can attest that it's still an issue on PS4 as well, camera zooms out on its own and doesn't keep the settings between encounters, for instance it's even odds going into a tfo whether it will be zoomed in or out.

I play on PS4 and yeah, it's still an issue. I'll just keep bumping this topic until fixed.

Still an issue after the latest patch. According to the patch notes it was supposed to be addressed.

Yup, Not Fixed after patch on 6th February 2024.
  • reidryn#4751 reidryn Member Posts: 14 Arc User
As stated above, the February 6 patch that supposedly fixed the camera issues, did not fix the camera issues.
  • reidryn#4751 reidryn Member Posts: 14 Arc User
If fact, it seems the issue has now spread to the ground camera.

Now, as also stated in the Xbox forums, whenever we load into a ground side area, the camera is usually zoomed out to max. Camera is now no longer reliably sticking on ground side camera.

So, if anything, the Feb 6 console patch, which was supposed to fix camera issues caused by Dec 19 patch, has actually made things worse.

I posted in the other thread reporting that the update didn't fix it, but I'll post here as well. I made a video of it happening, in case it helps the developers (like when I posted the video of the Temporal Ambassador bug).
