Closed Beta (2009) player reporting in, and I don't know...I think the main issue is player pool and having everyone in the same pool is the easiest solution to making sure all players can experience it with a team. Splitting queues just splits the playerbase, which means less players in each pool. I personally don't really see a problem with queueing for normals here. I mean, normals take less time, and the less time I spend doing something, the better I think. Again, closed beta player here.
These event campaigns are not fun. Forcing everybody to play on normal mode is so frustrating. Even the people who can't play on the higher difficulty levels are upset because of players like myself who come in and just clean everything out. So this current strategy is a failure on both sides.
Now we have to do these no-win scenarios. Why don't you just give the rewards and be done with it. I'm being serious, they're no fun. I just find a spot in the map where I can camp take the hits and auto fire FAW. They can't do enough damage to take me out. Even if they do just wait and game will kick me out of the map.
Players like myself who been playing this game for a long time (open beta) with lifetime subscriptions it's just frustrating. Let's not even talk about the fact that the newest TFO's only have normal difficulty level. Currently the only content in the game that I enjoy are the new hard patrols. But I have redesign my ship and change how I fly, so these are starting to get easy.
Currently, the only way to run a Elite queue Is through your fleet or a DPS channel. If you bring back the ability to see how many players are in these queues will help. Setting them so only the players whose difficulty levels are set on elite can access them. This would discourage players who can't play on elite to join those queues.
So...The OP was not implying, inferring, or indirectly disparaging newer or lower level players?
1) I have no problem with either Elite or Advanced content for players who have reached Exalted Status within the game. Either in TFOs or Events.
2) I have no problem with having an opinion which is different from other players.
3) You disagreeing with my opinion does not automatically make your opinion the correct one. Just different from mine.
3) STO is a game. I play this game for my own entertainment. As an escape from the cares and worries of Real Life. I deliberately choose NOT to use it as a substitute for Real Life. Although I can understand why someone else might choose differently.
Again, I'm regretful I bothered to post here. Or even come to these forums. All the time I waste here would be put to more productive use by actually playing STO instead of simply talking about playing STO.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
IMHO, ANY post that says "this is too easy" without some sort of cogent way of improving is 1. a not so humble brag, and 2 disparaging players who are not obsessed with becoming the GOAT. I have played for years, and am mediocre to average I think. but then again, I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful daughter and a pretty wonderful home life, not something many if not most of the elite players can claim. Again, JMO

Or those posts might be coming from players who are genuinely concerned about the downsides of forcing... let's say, dedicated players and more casual ones into the same content.
Cause those downsides exist. The content tends to be less fun for all sorts of players. There's no challenge for anyone if one player can finish the queue by himself.

Hence why this doesn't need to be a debate about powerful vs. less powerful players. There are shared interests here - and all players can benefit from more choices regarding mission difficulty.
Please quit sniping one another. Again. Thank you.

You can still do them on normal but a lot of us would like to enjoy this game. This game is becoming way to easy. My DPS is around 400k+ and I am not chasing DPS. Even the players that are not able to play at the higher levels are complaining. It's not just about you.
The easier (stale) this game gets the less playtime this game gets. This is how a game gets cancels. This is known as cause and effect.
To quote Miles O'Brien "This game is supposed to be fun, not a life and death struggle."
But is not fun for a everyone. Both high-end and lower level players are complaining. Lower level players are rage quitting because of being force to play with the higher levels.
It is not our responsibilities to teach random players. I have done this in the past and some players don't want the help, they just want to play their way and that's OK. If they join my fleet I will help them like crazy.
When this game was first preparing to be release I was on these forums helping people get systems able to run this game base on the system requirement. I was online searching for computer deals, hardware upgrades, and even helping some doing their first custom computer build. I've done this for other games I have played. One-site created a Avatar "Toolman" for me as a reward. I am on Reddit still helping people for free. Lets not even talk about the volunteer work I do for my church.
I like helping people. So don't go calling me selfish, especially if you're not willing to do the same.
The flip side is that if the default difficulty is made to advanced you'll devastate players whose builds that aren't yet ready. Ideally all versions of the TFO should count. But if there's a choice to be made then normal is the obvious call to make. Having a few minutes of too-easy gameplay (which you can follow up by jumping into something hard, you're not obligated to ONLY do the daily during your login) isn't comparable to the frustration of newer/more casual players being thrashed around for a too-difficult run (which is an easy excuse for quitting the game, apparently making a hard-sale to force more build investment can be extremely off-putting).
No one is saying these Event mission should only be available to higher level players. Before these changes we were able to get these reward on which even difficult level we choose to play.
The current TFO system is setup so lower level players can't do Elite difficulty, but it also made it harder for high level players to do these missions. My fleet has an 2 two hour events on the weekend to do Elite TFO. That not a lot of time, especially since we have players from all over the world.
I'd like an update so we can reclaim event campaign ships like normal C store ships. It would make using the Event campaign token more worthwhile.
Making them account-wide unlocks is not going to happen, that's being much too generous for a free lock box or promo pack ship that is normally single-character and costs on average 100 promo packs or 250 lock boxes. Or $150+ to buy older ships from Mudd's for the account unlock.
Yes but it would make event campaign unlocks worth it and allow the older lock boxes still viable for unlocking other things. I'm only asking for account unlock on the event campaign lockbox choice token and Phoenix prizes as those are out of current ships. Other lockbox mechanic based games use a similar model so people can use the older added stuff.
Why not have higher difficulty being an option and granting a slight buff to the rewards so if you're tougher, you can complete a bit faster.
Hmm, no. That won't work because their goal is to give us a reason to log in as often as possible.
What about a special account bound resource to craft account bound Ultimate tech upgrades? Make it a lofty total so it makes it a grind, but not insanely so. Like you need 300 to craft a UTU. Get 1 for Normal, 2 for Advanced and 3 for elite.
