Funnest thing you've ever done to another player

Every once in a while, I like to just playfully troll, like going into shooter mode and firing past a player on a social ground map and watching them look the way I'm firing thinking there's an enemy.

During Orb collection time on Q'onos I see someone is talking to the tailor and obviously on their tailor screen. I click on an orb to scan right next to them and it's an enemy that spawns which causes the Tailor to go into combat mode, which then kicks the player out of their tailor screen. I apologized for that one.

But sometimes, and it's rare, I'll be more than playful. As most of you may not know, I live on Dyson Ground Battlezone. It's where I am every night with 8 of my characters. One thing that grinds my gears is when someone is using super weapons to take down the V-Rex too fast and keeps everyone else from helping to earn themselves some marks and Dil. I thought I'd share a well planned method I used on one of these, as I call them, "cheaters".

First a layout of the map if you haven't ever been there. From the transport/teleporter pad to the Silo where the V-Rex is at the Park, there are these barricades that you can run through, given you can thread the needle when you are in a hurry with Frost Boots on. 9 times out of 10 everyone uses this route vs running around the obstacle. It's easy to be off when running and ram into these things which can slow you down if you are in a hurry while wearing Frost Boots, it will "boot" you sideways. I'd say 1 and a quarter people can fit through it at any given time.

Second, lets set the scene, we're hurrying to the Outskirts Silo to encounter the V-Rex because it's about to pop. From the command area we run to the transport/teleporter pad, as we materialize in the Outskirts the V-Rex battle begins and we immediately see the Outskirts Rex is killed in less than a second. The killer, 1 player who's already running to the transport/teleporter pad which I'm standing on. No one else is behind them. I quickly transport to the Park area to witness this player already halfway to the V-rex location. I make it to the barricades and the V-Rex is already down. (Granted I'm on my engineer character, I have equip, Versatile Kit Frame to use Motion Accelerator 1, Back in the Fight 2, Black Tribble, Physical Conditioning 2, Frost Boots and also Endeavor maxed out for Sprint speed. I have no run gun and I refuse to use the Cat Charm. Needless to say, when enabled it does ok to get my Engineer running at a decent speed.)

My evil self comes up with an idea... The tools needed for this are, Visual Dampening Field 2 and a Cover Shield. Evil Plans emote plays. Quickly, I stand in the middle of where the tiny space is between a wall and one of the barricades. I enable Visual Dampening Field 2 to cause a cloud of smoke to make it hard to see. I then enable a Cover Shield to block between the wall and the barricade. I take a few steps back and to the side to watch. The only player, the killer, running from the V-Rex Silo location to the transport/teleporter pad, thinking they are going to quickly get to the City to take it down before anyone else, hits my wall. I start laughing and expect a hate message in the zone chat. I get nothing, I keep watching, the player is continuously trying to run through the shield as if they didn't know it was there. The smoke clears, they are still trying to push through. Finally the cover shield goes down and they continue to the pad only to see the City is now down and they never touched it.

What are some funny things you've done to other players?

I once convinced my team mates that, in the room with the Queen in Into the Hive, there was an accolade for jumping off the platform after we finished the mission.

It was on normal though, so there weren't any serious consequences. And they were all fleet mates, so we were all kind of used to playing with each other this way.

Nope, I don't troll people. Doing it to strangers is especially rude.

For you it may seem nice and pleasant but for the other(s), who may or may not be having a bad day, it can be very annoying and even seem unpleasant and rough, which can provoke a reaction that can lead to worse. An altercation that even annoys others and is then reported, causing the person who responds to the instigator to receive a temporary ban that is not really his/her fault, but which the instigator/troll escapes from because it is difficult to prove if he/she has lost his/her playing session. does not record. In fact, if it can be proven, that troll should be punished with a penalty that is 10 times higher than the penalty received by the person who responded in response to the troll. Simply put: trolls are not tolerated on the forum then why should they be tolerated in the game? >:)

I gave a lower level random player a full set of Klingon Mirror Universe ships.

So...What most of you are saying is, you think having fun is wrong, even if one of them was by accident? gotcha... Just one quick question though, how many of you don't have a sense of humor?

Please do not put words in my mouth. Nor make assumptions about me based upon incomplete information. Why did you assume either of those things about me? Because doing so is wrong. While I may not approve of people trolling their friends, it is not my job to determine what another player can or cannot do within Star Trek Online. It is also not my job to decide what is or is not fun for another player.

I really enjoyed giving those ships to a random player whom I'll probably never see again. It made my day. I followed the guidelines you established in your header. I now wish I had not posted in this thread at all after what I've quoted from you.

This whole forum is a far better place when I lurk. Or better still stop visiting entirely.

Yeah, no. We're not going to have a "it's funny to troll people" thread and try to justify its merits. /thread
