Fleet Holdings - Standard Officer Donations

geoffschargeoffschar Member Posts: 14 Arc User
When going to Fleet Holding and selecting the active Engineering Construction Projects V I selected donate Engineering and Operations Department Duty Officers to donate the the normal duty officers, instead in now takes all duty officers, green, blue, and purple. I did not realize that and donated duty officers I did not want to donate. This is a terrible change if intentional and a worse bug if not.
Yes, this on the xBox One.

Additional information:
1. This can make it where if if you have Common Duty Officers available to donate, the option is not presented only showing other quality officers.
2. If donating via Armada there is often, but not always, the option to donate the common duty officers. Sometimes the donation does not present the option for common and behaves the same as the fleet.
3. Sometimes if donating through the armada and to your own fleet you are able to donate the common officers. However I noticed if I only donated a few of the common officers available it worked the first time. When I tried to donate again the option to donate the common officers was gone.
4. On "Coordinate Colonization" it appears that Prisoners cannot be donated. That instead of civilians there is the option to donate any officers Uncommon or better that are non-civilian.
5. It appears duty officers that are bound can be donated as well

I will add any additional information as I determine it I do not frequent the discussion boards on a regular basis. I would monitor if I received notifications to discussions.

Work around:
1. An initial donation of some duty officers appears to work, however do not select to donate a group of Common duty DOFs as that will select green, blue and purple DOFs if there are not enough Common to complete the donation; very bad.
2. If you purchase a large group of Common DOFs to donate and open, if you have not already tried to donate you may be able to select and donate the common. Select individually not as a group and check the quality in the right pane to be sure as there appears to be an upper limit where the individual selection works. I was able to select and fill 73 at once but in a case where it was 115 open for donation I was only able to select a subset to donate before it tried to use green or blue DOFs. This was in a single donation where I had 73 open in the upper pane and 115 in the lower pane. I donated what I could and then selected "CHANGE CHARACTER" from options.
3. I just logged back in with the same character that still had common DOFs and was able to complete the donation. I had to repeat this procedure multiple times to fill donations in Tactical, Science and Engineering.

I issued a warning to my fleet mates to be wary of this bug least they donate DOFs of higher quality and hurt there ability to to complete Duty Officers missions.

This should not have been moved to general discussion it is definitely a bug. Not in necessarily allowing the multiplying of credit of green, blue or purple DOFs to give a larger donation, but in not accepting ALL Common prior to incorrectly going to higher quality officers. As a QA Tester the upgrade fails if it is an intended upgrade because of the unintended consequences of defect 1. not prioritizing Common Quality and forcing the work around as outlined prior, and defect 2: A reply indicated that it does not allow protected DOFs to be donated; I found that is not true. yet another example of why it is a bug. I am not adverse to the concept. I am adverse to the implementation and missed defects as noted.

Can you please identify if this is on PC, XBox, or Playstation? As we have someone reporting this is happening on XBox in general, I'd like to know if this is in the proper location.

Moved to General Discussion, because this is not a bug and working as intended. /Moved

It would be really cool if somebody could post a screenshot or two of this process that includes the user interface used to protect doffs from donation.

The "attach image" (and choose file) function just above the posting window takes care of any image hosting.

I'm sorry for your loss of non-common duty officers.

From what I'm reading this change to donating doffs only applies to console players at this time..

In the Roster section, you can turn on protection for Duty Officers that you don't want to lose or donate. This is a great change for the most part, because we don't have to spend ages breaking down higher rarity Duty Officers to donate them to Fleet Projects anymore.
  • Since fleets were introduced, it has always been possible to go to your fleet’s star base or colony world, purchase common duty officers as required, open all at the same time, then donate directly from inventory overflow. On 11/01/2022, the game changed to allow for ANY quality (even Epic) level duty officer to be contributed. This was announced in release notes. What was NOT mentioned is that uncommon and up quality duty officers count for more than just 1 donation…which can be a great thing! However, it is very important to follow the instructions and take the time to enable protection on those you do not want to donate by accident. As a leader of an Armada that has several beta fleets and gamma, being able to donate duty officers in bulk, especially via Armada, Holdings, is very important to avoid having to start from scratch. After the update on 11/1/2022, now the ONLY duty officers that can be donated must meet these conditions: (1) they MUST be in your active duty roster and (2) they MUST NOT be protected. It is not possible any longer to donate from overflow. Instead, one must free up space in the active duty roster, either by dismissing or donation of unprotected duty officers. As fleets progress, the demand for ever higher amounts of duty officers increases. Imagine players who have a toon that has a limit of 100 active duty officers. If all are protected, that character CANNOT donate any. Instead, it is necessary to clear out at least 1. Let us say the player clears out 10. This means to donate the 100 duty officers, this procedure is now required. Open the boxes of all needed duty officers. The ones that can be put in your active duty roster list are automatically placed there. Then, you can donate up to 10 (since you had to clear 10 in this example). To donate the rest, it is now necessary to go to inventory, and an option to Transfer All to Inventory will appear. This causes the 10 you just donated to be replaced by those in overflow. At this point, you can donate 10 again. So, to donate 100, you must go through this process 10 times. While the change to being able to donate any quality duty officer can be great, since at times even just one rare quality can count as 20, this change to prevent donating from overflow because now all must be donated from active duty list is a major issue. It takes way too much time to donate the needed duty officers, and as a result, the other Leaders of our Armada and sister Klingon fleet are noticing that fewer people want to bother to take the time to do this, which is understandable. I turned in a ticket requesting that this change to prevent donation from overflow be undone so we can continue doing as we have for all these years. The answer was to post in this forum and get feedback for the developers. If you are a fleet leader, please be aware of these changes, and feel free to share your opinion. Hopefully, if enough of us point out the tedious nature of this requirement, and the fact that it takes now a very long time to do something that used to take a few minutes at the most, they may change it back. Thank you!!
