Changes to Tier 5 Reputation Dilithium

ambassadorkael#6946 ambassadorkael Member, Administrator Posts: 2,679 Community Manager
The Dilithium Ore given as part of the mission rewards associated with reaching Tier 5 in any Reputation have been replaced with Reputation Dilithium Vouchers. This reward has always been intended to be used to purchase Reputation Equipment, which may still be done using these Vouchers, which also do not require Refinement before use.

This change will take effect tomorrow on PC, and next Tuesday on Console.

So what happens when I reach Tier 5 of a Reputation now?
You will receive the same amount of dilithium as you had received in the past, but now in the form of Reputation Dilithium Vouchers. These vouchers can be spent to purchase Reputation Equipment.

Can I use these Reputation Dilithium Vouchers on any Reputation?
Yes. Vouchers unlocked from reaching Tier 5 on any Reputation can be used to purchase Reputation Equipment from any Reputation.

Why is this change being made?
As mentioned above, this Dilithium was always meant to be used to obtain Reputation Equipment. At the time, the designers believed players would use it exclusively for that, which may have been shortsighted. Switching this may have an effect on the Dilithium Economy. It's one of the many changes we're hoping to enact over the coming months.

Can you tell us about any of the other changes?
Not at this time. The other changes are either still in the testing phase or the design phase, and not yet ready for public consumption.

Well....that's worthless. Basically, you're telling players you don't want us trading Dilithium to Zen. I get it, but don't try to sell this as a positive for players

no, this is more of a greed system now, take one away to purchase zen to turn into Dil.

A change that makes sense - the Dilithium reward is intended for use in the Reputations, so now it will be.

no, come on, what does it matter WHAT you use it for, why force people? a good 70 percent of all the rep stuff isn't worth it, hardly anyone uses it, make it worthwhile to buy, update it, the its a good excuse. check the data on it, prove me wrong.

Time for a rep overhaul then isn't it? Already had my gripe in the PC announcement so I'll be more constructive.

Nearly all of them are completely obsolete.

May I also suggest a price slash on phoenix boxes too?

Actually, you have it wrong. You'll now get an even better price trading Dil to Zen as Dil becomes a more precious resource.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Not the other way around it doesn't. You now get less for your Zen. It's the reason I keep my 'change' instead of dumping it on the exchange, you need hundreds of thousands of dil to fully upgrade a ship, unless they start giving [barely stifled chuckle] away more upgrades.

    TRIBBLE the newbies basically.

All the changes you are making to Dilithium are hurting new players who don't have Dilithium and not doing anything to remove Dilithium from the people that have it. People want something worth buying for Dilithium not for it to be harder to accumulate.

It grinds my gears how much money I have to spend on this game for traits and consoles every time I start a new character.

i have over 100K rep dilithium i have not used yet and will probably never use, why would you not give us the option to either take rep vouchers or fleet vouchers instead of forcing us to have more rep vouchers that will never be used? i personally used the dilithium i was getting from the reputation on my fleets once it was refined. Even better why not make it a universal voucher that can be used on rep gear, donate to the fleet or buy fleet gear?

so now we are going to have 400K+ rep dilithium that will never be used, a great a reason to never do the reputation now.

I have a couple of toons in newer fleets, they will no longer be in newer fleets.

Contraband will go up in price though.

They should have left it as is. If you need rep dil, make it so you can trade in marks for it at X amount of rep dil per rep mark. Some of those rep items are pretty expensive. Have the option for regular dil or rep dil at trade in.

My point, exactly. There's now no reason to do reps on any toon you don't plan on using that rep set on.

You can already do that with refined dil. They simply want to limit the supply of dil instead of addressing the actual problem with the dil-zen exchange: dil has very low value on PC because there is not much for established players to spend it on

Not particularly impressed with that. I'd rather have been able to use the dilithium for fleet projects. Almost all of the rep gear is obsolete or otherwise useless. I can't think of anything I could spend nearly half a million dilithium on in rep gear. I could definitely have boosted several fleet projects along with it, and the fleet credits from those are far more useful than any of the rep gear to me.

If you're trying to 'fix' the exchange, it's a lost cause, something should have been done about that a long time ago. This is just a way to channel money into Zen for overpriced micros.

Y'all have to understand Cryptic is doing this in an attempt to "fix" the dil-exchange...

    On PC.

Essentially, they are trying "fix" something that is not broken yet on Console only because it is broken on PC.

    Thanks for nothing.

Still isn't in place yet, just in case you hadn't noticed. Ironically enough I had plans for the vouchers, now said plans shall have to wait.
  • Since you guys are making this change I do have a request that I hope gets done, but what I would love and I'm sure many other players agree with me is to add a bunch more new reputations for us to get new set items or if that's not possible than do a complete overhaul of the set's already available to us making them better because the truth is alot of players don't use the reputation sets that often like they use to.
