I like the Excelsior class look but have heard not so encouraging reviews on them. I don't play PVP and don't really care about doing the most damage. I just play casually but I want a ship that is at least capable. Is there any Excelsior ship preferably T6 that isn't just ok?
Thanks. I was afraid the one in the bundle was going to be the best option. Unfortunately I can’t afford it justify spending that much for a pack that I only really want one ship from.

They switched the third Eng AND the sci seats to universal, added a second spec (on the other remaining Eng seat), changed the Command spec to Pilot, and added an extra console slot (due to the new spec seat being Miracle Worker).
I wish I could afford the 11th anniversary pack. I have agree T6 and T5 ticket so I was contemplating using it for an excelsior variant but if they aren’t that viable I guess I should start saving and hope the pack goes on a really good sale.
One thing to keep in mind is that as long as the rest of your build is ok ANY ship is viable. Some of them can perform substantially better in certain content with a fully optimized team and build, but that's only relevant if you're trying to climb the DPS leaderboards.
The Excelsior is my favorite ship, but unless you get ahold of the Legendary one I would avoid the ship if possible. The normal Fleet T6 can be viable, but is one of the wort T6 cruisers in the game if you look at it objectively. I use it every so often and am always disappointed when I fly it.
Any T6 can do. I main the Legendary T6 at the moment. Suits my play style and I am definitely no slouch on the team.
Problem is the rest have zero flexibility. The Legendary is about as flexible as warm glass which is still more than the others. So you either make the build the ship demands, or you play sub-par.
But if you like it, you can do it. The DPS game these days is kill everything in 0.015 seconds or 0.01 seconds. I am sure a shuttle craft will do most content STO has to offer now.
The regular T6 Excelsior is plenty viable. It is not flexible, but anything T6 is viable to play the game and do advanced queues.
This.
People misunderstand the T6 Excelsior.
The Resolute it not a bad ship.. it's just not a versatile ship. If you set it up as an Aux2Bat Directed Energy Build it will face roll any content in this game and is more then capable of running even Elite Queues without any problem at all.
It's big failing comes if you want to do any other type of build, it's locked seating makes it good at one thing and one thing only, but it's still good. If you just want to use phasers with a torp or two, put out good damage and be tough to kill, the Resolute is a fine ship.
If it's the ship you love, get it. Honestly, the Anniversary one is just a cash grab.. yes it's 'better' but it's not so much better that anyone should buy the bundle to get it. If you need a sample build for the T6 Excelsior, I can make one and post it for you, but it's NOT a bad ship. If you want it, if you love the Excelsior, ignore everyone that says it 'sucks' and get it.

The old T6 is too "engineery'. Not sure on the others.

It's not versatile, but it doesn't suck.
